    Roman Past

    A Roman inscription

Favorite thing: Leon was founded as a roman military camp of the Legio VII Gemina.
There is not much roman rests left, as it was just a military base, but still some tombs remain. You can see most of them in the cloister of the San Marcos Parador.

    The river

Favorite thing: This is the river that crosses Leon capital. It comes from the north, from the mountains in Asturias.
There are many municipal parks at the river banks, and (useful if you come with kids) a McDonalds with an excellent playground, near the Bullfighting Ring.

    A sign in Castrillo

Favorite thing: In the old towns of the Leon province you can find really old buildings, made of brick and stone. Like the one where this sign was, in the little village named Castrillo de los Polvazares, near the capital. This is what is written there:
Made by Francisco Crespo in 1795"
