The stretch of the river Douro where it marks the border between Portugal and Castille and Lion goes through an impressive granitic canyon with plentyful possibilities for hikes and boat rides. This area is known locally as the Arribes of the Duero and there are several lookpoints from where to admire the landscape.

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Placed in the county of El Bierzo (in the border between Castilla y Leon & Galicia), Las Medulas is the remains of the biggest gold mine of Roman Times. They basically destroyed a mountain, to obtain the gold inside. Almost 2000 years later, nature has created a fantastic landscape over it.
