Over the entry to the olf Santiago church, now the information centre for Hoces del Rio Duraton, is a statue of Saint Juan, the Evangelist.
The church is build by bricks, which is unique in Sepulveda.
Separated from the church by a norrow passage there is the crypta pre-romanico with cavitations directly in the rock. The tombs have been dated to the last half of the 10th century. In the construction of the crypta there is carecteristic evidence of morian influence.
Under the town there is a 300 m long tunnel to get a more easy connection with "the other side" of the montain. The road to Madrid goes here, and you don´t have to get stuck in the middle of the town.
Make a visit to Ermita de San Frutos.
You start from Sep?lveda and take the Segovia road, after one kilometre you leave for Villar de Sobrepe?a. You pass the Villar and the road goes slowly down into the valley of San Juan. At next junction you go for Villaseca. And thereafter the bad road to the left, 4 km.
