Plaça del Pi, Barcelona
Must explain about the two sqaures, Placa del Pi and Placa de Sant Josep Oriol.
We arrived in the sqaure Placa de Sant Josep Oriol which is on the side of the church Santa Maria del Pi. From there we saw that in the front of the church was another square with a small open air market and THAT SQUARE was called Placa del Pi. So we had TWO SQUARES with corners touching and the church actually fronts on the Pi Square.
The church itself, when we entered, was disappointing, very simple, but we did like the facade and especially the huge circular stained glass window above the arched entrance.
The Market was mostly specialized farm produce, like honey, or organic fruit, nuts, wine and even some cheeses.
Favorite thing: Placa del pi (pine tree) is one of the most cosy little squares in the Gothic quarter.. its a huge square split in two where just in the middle there is the gothic church ... so beautiful... little stalls and trendy shops are spread along and across the square ...also a condom shop and bar terraces ...above all in summer time when its really nice to drink sth there listening to errand musicians
