Street Performers, Barcelona
Barcelona touristy districts as La Rambla street or seaside (Port Vell) is full of street mummers and musicians. Actually mummers pay their attention on dressing unusually, copying worldwide famous people. Such shows gather lot of tourists around them, but more watchers than money-givers :)
The most I liked street musicians, who are usually people from African land. First evening in Barcelona was so nice one, as there was solo show in Cathedral square, mostly lyric ballads.
In the main tourist areas of Barcelona you will no doubt come across street entertainers.
These can range from solo violinists, the obligatory Peruvian pan pipe playing band and the now very common everywhere human statues. These people are all trying to earn whatever they can from giving you some entertainment, so I for one don't mind them and generally take the time to stop and watch for a while. Be aware though that you should keep a careful eye on your valuables while standing around in the crowds that gather.
Favorite thing: Of all the street performers I saw in Barcelona this guy brought the biggest smile to my face. First of all He looked like Charlie Chaplin. He was playing a toy xylaphone and singing while all these little toys were responding to the music. He had little birds, little frogs and other little toys all dancing to his music. All this entertainment for a few pesos
Walking dawn streets of Old Barcelona you can enjoy different kind of music. There are singers and musicians.
Fondest memory: Just stay on the moment and listening sounds and voices of Barcelona.
Favorite thing: Another street performer. This guy would swallow razor blades, swords glass you name it while lying on a bed of nails The kids loved it.
