by rsilva In Portugal, some of the best places to go for a coffee are the ones with the not-so-friendly but extremely efficient, white-jacket waiters. I guess Spain is not much different. What is better than sitting in the sun (even indoor) enjoying a coffee/juice and a fresh pastry served by sweaty (yes, it does add to the charm) waiters? On top of this, the waiters were actually friendly! It is also great for just sitting down and watching people go by. It's not the cheapest place to go as it is very central and popular, but it was very conveniently located from our hotel and we liked it a lot.
I like the "canya con la crema", it is just a pastry with an egg-based filling. Leave a Comment Theme: CoffeehouseAddress: Placa Catalunya.

Cafe Zurich at plaza Catalunya by mindcrime After my visit to FNAC we just needed a beer and café Zurich was right there at Plaza Catalunya. It is very popular because of its location and kind of pricey but its ok if you go there just for a drink and see the people passing by. It’s a historical café, being at the same spot for almost a century although it was closed for some years because of the construction of the Triangle shopping Mall. Although packed with locals and tourists the service was good. We loved sitting outside and watching the people passing by. It is open daily 8.00-23.00

This cafe, although not the best in town, is definately the one you've got to choose if you want to be seen. Next to Plaça Catalunya and the Ramblas, it located in one of Barcelona's busiest corner. Leave a Comment

by canaglic is the most popular bar in town. It's always full of locals and tourists. The bar is located in one of the busiest corners in this centric square. The bar was closed several years, while the 'El Triangle' Shopping mall was under construction. It was reopened some years ago. The owners of the bar promised they would preserve its romantic atmosphere. In my opinion some of its glamour has been lost for ever. But it's still a great place to sit and watch people pass by.
