Les Quinze Nits: Cheap, good and on the Plaza Reial

by lobstop Written May 13, 2004

Les Quinze Nits is easy to find. Look for the long queue on the Plaza Reial. There it is. It might take an hour until you get a table. But it is worth it. Very good food at a very reasonable price. The atmosphere is "legere", maybe a little bit too many tourists there...

Les Quinze Nits: Waiting in line

by singel Updated Apr 10, 2004

    8h30, half the waiting line

It's a pity nowadays that every guide has the same adresses so that there are long waiting lines in front of the advised restaurants. The food was reasonable, but not as excellent as sometimes said in these pages. It's real 'FASTfood' for the masses.

If you want to go, be there at 8, and wait in line for half an hour.

Les Quinze Nits: Everything they say about this restaurant is true

You have got to eat something at les quince nits. Everything they say about this restaurant is true: there's always a long long queue (we once waited 1,5 hour), the food and the atmosphere are worth waiting for, the food is absolutely delicious and very cheap. And the atmosphere is great.

Favorite Dish: A starter with a lot of different things, I forgot the name

    And duck with apples:mmmmm

    And roasted lamb:mmmmmm

And Sangre de Toro wine (bulls blood, hihi) : mmmmmmm

  • Les Quinze Nits: Delicious food

The restaurant is on located on Placa Reial. We went here after after reading recomendations on VT and weren't dissapointed. We arived at 9.45pm and queued for 30 minutes. It was definately worth the wait. My starter (veal carpachio) was excelent. I had duck with apple compote for my main course which was very nice but didn't come with any veg or rice. I guess their more bothered with quality than quantity. Desert was good too. I strongly recomend this restaurant.

Les Quinze Nits: Worth the wait . . .

For many of you savvy VT travelers, the sight of an enormous line outside of a restaurant in a touristy part of town might discourage you. I had the same thought, but I was with others who really wanted to give it a try, so we decided to jump in line early and try it out. The place opens at 8:30pm and they don't take reservations, so your best bet is to get here by around 8. The food and service were both excellent and the prices were very reasonable.

Favorite Dish: The desserts tasted as good as they looked.

LES QUINZE NITS: Worth queuing up too

    La Plaza Reial

If you go to Placa Reial and see the big line going through it, it's the people queuing up to get to the restaurant, which has 3 floors and tables outside. It's still not enough for all the people who want to eat here.

Favorite Dish: Great variety of starters, fish and meat dishes. Codfish with beans is delicious and as for desserts...... I would eat them all but one of the best choices will for sure be Crema Catalana with almond ice-cream and chocolate syrup. Yummy... :-)))

Terrace at Placa Reial: Les Quinze nits

    The terrace

This restaurant is a rather good option to try typical catalonian food in a nice environment.
I went there for lunch, and seated at the terrace they have in an alley at one side of the Placa Reial. They have room inside and upstairs too, but I found it nicer to seat outside and watch the people go by...
Most entrees were about 4 euros, and main dishes, about 6 euros.

Favorite Dish: Escalivada amb formatge fos i torradets: 3,81 euros
Botifarra amb mongetes saltades: 4,41 euros
You can see the pics of these dishes in the next 2 tips.

the queues for Quinze Nits in the Placa Reial

A nice, varied menu (something for everyone) on a beautiful square with outdoor tables. Choose here rather than the ferociously popular (and queued!) Les Quinze Nits next door - you won't regret it. This place has nicer food for only a little more money and it's got a really interesting history. Plus you can laugh at the people queueing for Nits as you eat. Nice wine too :)

Favorite Dish: The goat's cheese starter... just a great salad!

There are hundreds of bars and restaurants in Barcelona, catering for all budgets. For lunch you should check out the menu del-dia’s (menu of the day), available in most restaurants and usually priced around 1000-1500ptas for a 3-course meal with wine. One of my favourite places to eat is Les Quinze Nits located in Placa Reial. The food is excellent and very reasonably priced, around (£10-15) a head, including wine. It is worth remembering that restaurants in Spain don’t usually open until 9pm in the evening.

There are long queues everyday, you should go a little bit early (before 9pm) so that not to wait too much.

Favorite Dish: Salad, mixed of French fris and spicy sausages.

No reservation possible. Go there around 8 and stay in line (don't be scared if there are more then 50 people standing in front of you, it's worth it...)

Favorite Dish: Just make your choice, it's really excellent.
