taxidermista barcelona: Just don't go there.
We should have guessed it from the outset, but we'd had a long day and were ravenous. Staff took ages to push a couple of tables together and even longer to take our orders. To be fair the starters were OK, but the main courses were a complete disaster. Two of us had the worst sirloin steaks the world has ever seen, tough as old boots and drenched in a sauce that makes me feel ill 3 days later. The fillet of beef served to another of us was inedible and the risotto ordered by our veggie was bordering on attempted manslaughter. You try eating rice soaked for a week in seawater.
What really did it for us was the waiter who collected plates full of uneaten food without comment. These people don't give a toss about customer satisfaction.
Taxidermista: Good patio location
If you are not in a hurry and want an interesting place to enjoy tapas, wine or an expresso, this is a good place to try. Sit outside and watch the people standing in line for other restaurants in the area and be entertained by the street performers that come by. I had the "tomato bread", salad, wine and ended with an expresso. The service is typical for Barcelona -- but I also was in no hurry -- just enjoying and the entertainment.

I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy. Service was poor. We asked for a window table as there were plenty of empty ones and were told they were all reserved although no reserved signs were visible. As we were leaving we realised they kept the window tables empty so that any impatient people waiting in the queue for Les Quinze Nits would be tempted inside. My partner and I decided to go for a main and a dessert and ordered the grilled turbot. There are no side dishes on the menu so we asked if it came with vegetables. No, vegetables were extra so we ordered some mixed veg which seemed to be the only thing available. After an extremely long wait during which we drank half our wine and ate all the bread and olives, which are not complimentary, we were served a tiny thin slice of turbot along with a dollop of what looked like wallpaper paste. Eventually a bowl of mushy vegetables arrived which were totally inedible. we're not the fussiest of people where food is concerned but this was the worst meal I've ever been served. Needless to say, we declined dessert and coffee and left after paying a whopping 60 euros. Don't go here. You've been warned !
