Trobador is a buzzing Mediterranean brasserie with a wide-ranging menu, set on the busy Carrer Ferran.
It was very popular and there were a lot of locals dinning there (mainly in large groups) on the night we went. The octopus and Spanish omlette were very average, but the mains were fine and the price wasn't bad. The wait staff leave a lot to be desired though, but for a meal after a day of sightseeing it was fine.
Favorite Dish: Stay simple or go for tapas.

Duringa visit to Barcelona, we called into the Trobador for breakfast. We had arrived from london that morning and had been on the go since 05:00.
It was a good place to stop, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming.
I would highlight that service was a little slow, but 3 of the 5 of our group enjoyed breakfast. The remaining two had a "fry-up" and found their fried eggs a little underdone and their french fries a littl undercooked.
None the less it was enjoyable and worth visit - the lunch and dinner menus are better!!
Favorite Dish: Omlette sandwich and cafe solo! excellecent value for money.

Ok, in best Monty Python style...'the comfy chair'..
There is, of course, a lot more to this restaurant than some nice sofas but they do help!!
This brasserie is located is very close to the Placa Catalunya and right on Rambla Catalunya and is one of a group of restuaruants.
A very striking décor lots of black, white, red and blue with modern art work on the walls.
The menu is Mediterranean with emphasis on dishes from the grill.
I think this ranks among the best restaurants I have visited in Barcelona in terms of value, service and, needless to say, quality of food
Service was very good with our waitress willing to spend time explaining the menu to us and making recommendations. As with most places we visited, their English was fantastic.

Favorite Dish: Started with tomato and olive oil and olives.
Main course was black and white puddings and chorizo sausage servered with white beans. Also had a side order char grilled vegetables.
Ordered a small bottle of rioja of red wine and finished with a cup of black coffee.
Very good sized portions!

Visited this restaurant on a Tuesday night and it was full. Surroundings are modern and stylish. Cooking area is in full view of the customers. Staff were very professional and friendly.
Favorite Dish: Anything from the grill including fish. Leave room for dessert.

Trobador is a nice, centrally-located "Braseria" that mixes mediterranean influences with the local Spanish-Catalan cuisine. A very nice ambience and service was ok (though, they can be stretched thin during peak hours). For you vegetarians out there, they have a nice grilled veggie plate.
Favorite Dish: The meat dishes seem to be the strength here, so you may want to try the Entrecote.

buzzing Mediterranean brasserie with a wide-ranging menu, atmosphere somewhat frenetic, with stressed waiters but nice striking décor – bold black, white, red and blue, with a musical and theatrical theme running through its murals.
Favorite Dish: an excellent selection of tapas, delicious starters, lots of salad incorporating all sorts of ingredients including cod, walnuts and prawns, skewers of king prawns with bacon, pan-fried Andalucian squid and cuttlefish… grilled fish and meat to parmesan risotto

This restaurant is just off Plaza Catalynua and is a modern, trendy place.
Service was very good.
I ordered an "Amalida de Bolets i Bacalao" which is a salad with mushrooms and codfish (raw, marinated I guess). When I got it, they had forgotten the codfish (I had been told this is one of the more typical Catalunian dishes). When I finally got it, it was nice.
My girlfriend had grilled Artichokes (Carxofes Brasa) that were also very nice.
The chocolare pyramid (Piramide de trufa) was very good.

Nice newer resturant with a great atmosphere! There are a couple of locations around the city. I ate at one in L'Exaimple but there is also one just around Catalunya Plaza. Great service and the menu is also in English. Had the Paella and also tasted the chicken. Great wine selection at good prices.
