Food is good. I am a pizza SNOB so I am not overboard on the food, but fast and affordable. However, they were so great to my kids. My oldest ate more pizza there than in Chicago.
Favorite Dish: I actually like the torta de Jamon. I preferred it over the pizza, but my wife also loved the Margarita and the sardine pizza too.

La Pizza del Born does exactly what it says - it sells pizza with a variety of toppings from chorizo to tuna to onion. As of last week, slices of pizza or pie cost 1.70 euros. Don't worry about your Spanish - the slices are kept in a glass counter at the back, so all you really have to do is point at the ones you want. And want them you will. I particularly liked the pizza with spicy chorizo. It's a pretty small and friendly place, and it's open until the early hours of the morning so it's a good late night snack bar. You can also get pizza to take away.

So, a few friends of mine from Argentina took me to this little pizza place and bragged the whole time because, apparently, Argentina has surpassed Italy in quality pizzamaking. I was skeptical--cause, damn, Italy makes good pizza! but...it was awesome, and very cheap! I reccomend the pineapple and ham, the mushroom, the four cheese, the...wait a second... every piece looks (and tastes) delicious. The guys who work there are fun and flirtatious (which would have left me satisfied even if the food had sucked...) and the place is always packed. Buy 2 pieces (1,50 euro apiece) and a bottle of Argentine beer, try to find a spot to sit down, and enjoy yourself...

You probably don't think of Pizza when you think of Catalan cuisine, but I urge you to think again. Pizza del Born was a dietary staple during my stay in Barcelona. At 1.60 Euros a slice and tons of great toppings to choose from, it was easy to satisfy the pineapple pizza cravings that occurred regularly (and sadly still do). Obviously, the pina is my recommendation, but the mushroom, onion, veggie, basically all of them, were really good. You can also get empanadas and they have a generous selection of tasty looking desserts. Most of the staff speaks some English and were usually very sympathetic to our attempts at Castellano. The great part is, you can always just point at the pizza you want in the glass display case and they'll get the point. Get a piece to go, or sit at the high crowded tables and enjoy your pizza with a cold clara on a hot day. The staff is very friendly and appreciates it when you clean up your table. Once, they even gave us free chocolates as a thank-you for cleaning up. The final high-point: Up the narrow stairs in the back is a very clean, working bathroom, WITH toilet paper, that you can use for free, something of a rarity in small establishments in the city.
Favorite Dish: Get the pineapple, obviously! But everything is good. Careful of the cheese varieties if you're not a fan of strong, pungent cheeses.

This Pizzeria is not anymore an insiders tip as too many know already this great place where you get for a reasonable price really yummy pizza pieces. At night at 2 am the people are making queue here on weekends to get one of those great snacks. When we were there on Sunday afternoon they had an offer of two pieces (like a quarter part of a big round pizza) + a beer or soft drink for 3,50?. We bought it take away and sat down outside in the sun to enjoy the meal.
Favorite Dish: my favorite was the onion pizza!!

This is a small casual pizza place, sort of like a fast food place but not a chain. You can buy a full pizza or by the slice at 1.50 per piece. During lunchtime you can get two pieces and drink for only 3.30euro a very low price for Barcelona.
Favorite Dish: I like the pineapple and ham, but there are also more exotic types like salmon, chorizo and many more.
