One of the highlights of my siteseeing in Barcelona was the trip on the cable cars that run over the port and up to Montjuic. Although the cable car was packed, everyone had a good view. We rode the cable cars at sunset and had beautiful views of Montjuic, the port, the ocean and the city. It is an incredible trip! I believe we paid EUR 7.50 for a one-way trip on the last car, normally it is EUR 9 return I think. DO NOT start at the Jaume 1 tower by Columbus... you will only get half a trip! Leave a Comment Directions: Just look for the big cable car towers and start walking towards them!

by MaheshSamtani A fifteen minute ride in which it is almost impossible to keep your mouth closed, with the superb views it offers of Barcelona. That is the new Montjuïc cable car system. You can board the cable car at three stations: Parc de Montjuïc, the Mirador and the Castle, though I would recommend you start at the lowest point, Parc de Montjuïc. You can get there easily by taking the funicular railway, which stops at the same stop where you get the cable car. Once you have got your ticket, a return (7.50 euros for adults and 5.75 euros for children) or just a single (5.50 euros for adults and 4.25 euros for children) to the Castle, you go to the waiting area, from where you board one of the cars. You will get to see amazing views of the city and the port area

by tim07 Board the cable car from Torre de Sant Sebastia near Barceloneta. There is a ticket booth, then you go up the lift to the top of the tower to catch the cable car. This takes you right across the port area where you get great views of the city, after stopping at the World Trade Centre you cross the port to Montjuic. You depart at the Jardins de Miramar, these gardens provide excellent views of the city too.

I went here on a rainy day so the view was not so spectacular as it would be everyday. But nevertheless it was worthy. Montjuïc mountain (Jewish mountain) has been, throughout its history, the protagonist of many events, some glorious and victorious, others less so. The historical symbol and oldest monument (end of the 17th century) is the Castell de Montjuïc (Castle), from where there are beautiful views of the city. The castle, which now houses the Museu Militar, has been, in part, a symbol of oppression oven the centuries, as it was used to torture and execute the leaders of the Setmana Tràgica in 1909 and Lluís Companys, president of the Generalitat de Catalunya in 1940, among others. Although you can get to Montjuïc with the number 61 bus from Pl. d'Espanya, your best bet is the Transbordador Aèri , which offers spectacular views of Barcelona from the air. You can also take the funicular from Paral.lel and the teleférico which goes all the way to the castle. From Pl. d'Espanya to the Columbus statue runs Avenida del Paral.lel, inaugurated in 1894, which became famous as a synonym of entertainment, the Montmartre of Barcelona. Here you will find the Molino (a music hall), and several other theatres. Leave a Comment

It's old and scary, this Cable Car. But so is Barcelona! Nah, really, I felt totally safe jumping the Montjuic tram at the Port Vell station and riding on to Montjuic. The views are incredible, the lines were nearly non-existent, and you arrive at a phenomenal overlook of the entire city. Sit down at the the little touristy cafe and enjoy the views. For E9, one way(12.50 r/t), it's well worth it. Then, you can wander down to the fountains or through Poble Sec for a return via the Metro. Leave a Comment Phone: 932252718Directions: Look for the massive tower, it is nearly directly across the street from the Club de Natació.

Montjuic Funicular by vivalasteph The funicular and cable car ride to the top of Montjuic is a great way to see the whole city. The view from the top is spectacular. Then walk down the mountain to the Parliament building and see the fountain. Directions: The funicular leaves from the corner of Nou de la Rambla and Avda. Paral.lel.
