Creme Catalan or Catalan Delight? `-) by irisbe Delicious... it is what we call flan or pudding, vanilla taste but very refined and on top there is some burned liquor to make it all complete! A good tip we got from Pere and Eva on our first evening out, but because we ate so well that night, we had to postpone it to the next day when Marie took us out to one of her favorite restaurants. Don't leave Barcelona without trying it ! Leave a Comment

Sirvent by Peret What drink a barcelonian? Well, he can drink bier, that I think here is not so well then in the central Europe. Wine, to acccompany a meal. Watter of course...But I'll present you a drink that you don't know and the barcelonians drink often with pleasure: The "orxata". Orxata is a valencian drink made with earth-almond. He is very very refreshing. There's a orxateria, in carrer Parlament In the photo, (my girl-friend in), where I think is the best orxata of the world, with permission of valencians. Every day in the summer a lot of barcelonians comes there to drink. It's funny becouse you can see there: rich men, poor men, punkies, police, workers, youngs, old people...everyone with a smyle. Worth to taste, the only probleme is you can become addict. Leave a Comment

Visit a typical Catalan Coffee shop - ie - not one of the American chains of Coffee Shops Try the local strong Black Coffee with brandy (Conac) - very nice. The local Catalan beer is also very worth trying and is much better than the very awful National Spanish beer - San Miguel. The local beer which you can also buy from the coffee shops is normally Estrella Damm - normal strengh - and if you are very lucky a very nice beer at around 7% - Voll Damn - this is very nice if you know a real beer from a mass produced beer. There is also Bock Damm - but i did not find this (it is a dark beer) Wine of course if the best option if you are having a meal in a Restaurant - ask for vino de la casa (house wine) Directions: in the old quarter not far from city walls

by MozBrad Tapas are Spanish appetizers. A tapas bar looks like a typical bar or pub - the proprietors stand behind the bar and serve food and drinks. In the bar I went to there were perhaps two dozen plates of different tapas types. Each appetizer had a toothpick in it, and you were given a plate opon stepping up to the bar. You simply selected what looked good and collected the toothpick on your plate. When you were finished, you handed your plate full of toothpicks to the proprietors who counted the picks and charged you for what you ate! Leave a Comment Address: Tons of them throughout downtown Barcelona

Day or night, people-watch and have fun on the Rambla! Stop by the Café de l'Opéra for a frappuchino. A great place to people-watch. There's always something happening. Leave a Comment

Had to get a picture of the damm beer. by Rude_boy22 We had quite a few Damm beers while we were in Barcelona. It isn't really all that good, we just liked the name. We tried to find the Damm brewery so we could get a Damm T-shirt, but we couldn't find one. Leave a Comment

by JaumeBCN After walking so much you can enter and sit down at the Cafè de l'Opera, located in front of the Teatre del Liceu, at La Rambla. Opened in 1929 the Cafè haven't lost its charm which resembles to Parisian cafes. Leave a Comment

Go to the food and vegy markets on the main esplanade (?Placa Espano??not sure of name right now). They are so colourful and the range of food and vegies will blow any flavour-starved backpacker out of the water. Make yourself a feast for the night - I did. Yummmmm. Leave a Comment

I have never been anywhere and seen people drink coffee like in Spain, and I have never been anywhere where it tasted as good. Seems that everyone is either just finishing or just starting a cup of coffee. Make sure you visit one of the many coffee shops and try the coffee with the locals, the aroma of coffee mixed with the strong scent of cigars or 'Ducados' cigarettes always present will have you feeling like a Spaniard even if you don't smoke.
