Sant Pau Hospital...yes I know...too much beauty to be a hospital!
Little Modernist City in live! The 'Santa Creu i Sant Pau' Hospital was an union of the old six hospitals in Barcelona's city. This was administer by Church & City. The first building was that nowadays is Catalonian National Library (gothic art). The architect was Lluís Domènech i Montaner with more artists as Pau Gargallo, Eusebi Arnau, Francesc Labarta & Mario Maragliano. Was here were the famous architect Antoni Gaudi died 10th July 1926 killed by a tram. UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE!!!

This is a beautiful hospital that looks very church like in structure. It was designed by the architect Domenech y Montaner and started in 1902 and fully completed in 1930. Here at this hospital just a few blocks from Sagrada Familia Antoni Gaudi died in 1926 after being run over by a tram. This was just a block away from our hotel also. I found it ironic and kind of chilling that you can stand on the grounds of the hospital where Gaudi died and see his Basilica just a few blocks down the street.

This is another beautiful piece of architecture in Barcelona. It's really beautiful on the inside & out. You feel kind of weird going inside of a hospital as a tourist attraction, though. It's still in use today.

walking up from Sagrada Familia by Avinguda Gaudi you find this wonderful modernista hospital, many building, the main is in the picture.

we walked by without knowing what it was.. we were coming from the Sagrada Familia and were going to Park Guell on foot

Lluís Domènech i Montaner and his son Pere Domènech built the Hospital Sant Pau, a Modernist hospital made of several pavilions in 10 hectares. The picture shows the main entrance to the Hospital.
