Parc Guell by clairegeordio Parc Guell is located north of the Ramblas and was designed by Gaudi. It is a magical place, with houses like they come from Hansel and Gretel, a long, curved bench, covered in broken ceramics. If you venture from this area -which you should - you are rewarded by sculptures, and strange, natural tree forms. Please look at my travelogue for more photos. The best way to get to Parc Guell is to take the metro to Lesseps and then walk for about 20 mins to reach it by following the signs. We actually took the number 24 bus back to the centre of Barcelona, just outside the park. Entrance to the park is free. Leave a Comment Phone: 93-317-39-74Directions: Metro; line 3. Lesseps Station, then follow the street signs.

the park main entrance by Folbi Take the time to walk all the paths from this park to discover many of Gaudi's architectural frenzy such as the tiled lizzard or the main entrance. When the weather is clear you have nice views on the city and the see. Leave a Comment Phone: 93-317-39-740Directions: Metro line 3. by m-joy Park Guell is a must for everybody who likes architecture, ceramics and a nice view on Barcelona. If you want to make brilliant photos of Gaudí´s work and the city you should come early in the morning - otherwise it´s overcrowded with tourists and the typical dust hangs over Barcelona. nap time by parsix I am the clasical example of someone who is always in a rush. I remember once in Miami a security guard at the building I worked stop me and ask: " Excuse me, but why is it that you are always running in your way out?" and I instinctively answered " Because if not I will be late. " and he reply: "Late where?" and I had no answer. The nature of my job demands precision down to the second, and probably that has repercuted in my personal life. But lately I try to take life easy... very few things are really worth being in stress... Leave a Comment

Front stairs-Parc Guell by bpwillet It all began with a little tree covered hillside, purchased by Count Eusebi Guell. He hired Gaudi to lanscape and create a miniture garden city for the wealthy. Unfortunately it never paid out and the project was abandoned in 1914. Gaudi, however, had let his artistic craft go and created much of the park as it is today. It was eventually bought by the city in 1922 and turned into a public park. Leave a Comment Phone: 93-317-39-74Directions: Metro; line 3. Lesseps Station, then follow the street signs.

Mosaic lizard-Park Guell by bpwillet There are many walkways and paths around the park. It is impossible to not see people running, with thier dogs, or even school children on a weekly field trip. Gaudi was completely engrossed in nature and wanted to try to imitate and reflect that in his many creations. Park Guell allows him to take advantage of that love. Parc Guell by kazander I loved exploring in this park. I couldn't get enough, I wish there was more of it! Originally Gaudi was to have built 60 houses here in the park. Unfortunately the project fizzled out after only two were built. Luckily we still have great things to explore! When you enter, there is a grand staircase with fountains and the city's mascot, the mosaic lizard greeting you. Follow the stairs up and you will come to huge doric columns and an area where there was supposed to be a marketplace. Supported by the columns, above this area, is a vast plaza ringed by the famous tiled, curving benches. To the side and back of the plaza are these unique natural stone pillars. Beyond this is a vast natural park with winding pathways through wooded areas. At a very high point in the park is a little tower with 3 crosses on it, it's a great place to view the city from. The section I have pictured here was my favorite. It was so organic looking, like an extension of the landscape. Leave a Comment Phone: 93-317-39-74Directions: Metro; line 3. Gaudy architecture`s masterwork by LanaFromRiga My first introduction with the architecture of Gaudy was in University. I got great photo album with colourful reproductions of Gaudy masterworks. I’m very lucky person because I saw park Guel and the church of Sagrada Familia by my own eyes. Leave a Comment

Barcelona from the 3 crosses, without the climb! by adelinemmc To arrive at the top of the park, near the 3 crosses, use Vallcarca station to get to the park, and benefit from a long series of escalators. You'll only have a short flight of stairs to get to the park. Have your stroll from the 3 crosses through the park, always going down and exit via the main entrance, then walk down to Lesseps or the bus stops. Much nicer way to see it all in the sun, without breaking into a sweat! Leave a Comment Directions: Metro; line 3. Do NOT go to Lesseps Station, instead travel one more station to Vallcarca station and follow the signs, there's a series of escalators that will do all the hard work for you!

This park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, was built by Antoni Gaudi. Under Gaudi, the construction took place from 1900 to 1914 and was originally built for Mr. Eusebi Güell as a private residential garden. However, the park became public property in 1923. Although the park was never completed by Gaudi, it still remains one of his most fascinating creations. It is perhaps the most visited place in Barcelona and it is always crowded with tourists. Entry is free and one can visit here after a days walking and seeing around to take rest or just for sheer pleasure of seeing yet another Gaudi marvel. The park is decorated with palm trees and rock structures. By using the rock designs Gaudi wanted to use nature as much as possible. The ceramic designs on the ceiling of the structures are also made from recycled ceramic and glass pieces. Although the park is always crowded with tourists, the park still remains a calm and serene place to be in the city.
