Zoological Museum-Parc de la Ciutadella by bpwillet Once used as a cafe/restaurant during the Universal Exhibition, this imagined medieval buidling was designed by Domenech i Montaner. It was also known as the Castell dels Tres Dragons. It has animal exhibits and even some prehistoric ones as well. The animals are all stuffed and more models than the real thing. Those animals are actually at the zoo at the farthest end of the Park. The museum is open from 10am. Leave a Comment

by 36waterfalls On the spot of the former parliament dungeons (18th century), in front of the parliament building rests this sculpture in the centre of the pond. A piece by Josep Llimona I Bruguera called "Desconsol" (distress) from 1907. The pond is surrounded by benches and thick hedges, pretty tranquil, almost forgetting the horrors that took place here in the 1800's.

Cascade Fountain by tim07 A beautiful relaxing place to escape the city heat & crowds for a while. The park has a boating lake, zoo, geological museum & a tropical greenhouse. It is also the home of the Parlament de Catalunya. My highlight was the Cascade Fountain, winged horses, cherubs & serpants are set amid the jets of water & mossy waterfall.

I loved this park. You get to it by Metro (Jaume or Parc della Cituadella stations). It is huge! you can rent a boat for €10 for 30 minutes on the little lake, there is a brilliant zoo (with dolphins) and it is also just lovely to sit in. We had a really nice time here - buy a big bottle of water and relax on a lovely sunny day. Leave a Comment

Zoology Museum by Blatherwick The Parc de la Ciutadella is Barcelona's most central park. The park includes a zoo, a lake, a large fountain and several museums. The Castel dels Tres Dragons (Castle of the Three Dragons), viewed in the background was built in the style of a medieval castle which served as a restaurant during the 1888 exhibition. It is now home to the Museo de Zoologia (Zoology Museum). Leave a Comment

parc ciatudella by Meadows11 Well worth a visit is the beautiful and picturesque Parc de la Ciatudella. We were fortunate enough to be staying in an apartment overlooking the park, and as such I was able to enjoy a morning stroll through the park more than once. As well as the fabulous monument it houses, as shown in the photograph, it also houses the Barcelona Zoo and beautiful greeneries among other things, including a parliamentary building. If you are able to catch this place on a nice day, on an early morning when it quiet, then it can be an incredibly relaxing, humbling experience. Well worth a visit. Leave a Comment

Parc de la Ciutadella by martin_nl The Parc de la Ciutadella was the stage for the world expo in 1888. It is a famous parc, that attracts a lot of visitors. It has a beautiful fountain that you can see on the picture. The vegetation in the parc is fantastic and if you take good look around you can see green parrots flying from one tree to the other. This is a really beautiful park not far from the main sites. A nice place to take your picnic lunch on a sunny day and have a rest from the sightseeing beside the boating lake or lying on the grass somewhere. Although it does have some sights of its own. My favourite thing was the Cascada - a really grand fountain in the middle of the park. The grotto in the centre was one of Antoni Gaudi's first projects as a student. The main drawback for me was all the work that seemed to be going on and meant that many paths and grassy areas were blocked off for access and there were barriers and tape up all over the place. It was a little confusing in some places to figure out where you were allowed and where you weren't. This may just be a short term thing though Leave a Comment
