Less Touristic Park
Visit this beautiful park in Barcelona that is overlooked by most tourists. It is easy to walk to from the beach or Las Rambles. There is much to see in this park but most locals come here to relax and to get away from the busy city.
There is a shop (bit over priced), boat rides and lots of different people doing interesting things. There is also a pond with beautiful architecture and a waterfall. It is a fun and relaxing way to escape the afternoon heat.
Citadel chapel is also could be called as military church. It was built in former citadel site, at the first half of 17th century. Building was designed by George Prosper Van Verboom. That time citadel was the biggest in Europe, and this church served religious needs of soldiers.
The chapel here is one of rare examples of baroque style in Barcelona, and it is not even South style, but north one, mostly met in Scandinavia.
Parliament of Catalonia
Catalan parliament is located in beautiful Citadel park, actually with Cascades fountain it forms central places of park. Parliament, firstly was used as military arsenal, was modeled by Prospero de Verboom and built in 1716 – 1748. Some time till 1932 it was used as art museum, later – as Parliament. Only in 1980 it got full rights to make Parliament sessions here.
Existence of institution of Catalan Parliament shows that there is autonomy of this Catalonia region. I don’t know statistics, but I think that people here feel quite different from Spanish and would like to get independence.
The central point of Citadel park is Cascades fountain, projected as a good example of a famous Trevi fountain in Rome. This one was built for International Exhibition of 1888 by Josep Fontsere with a help of still young architect Antoni Gaudi.
The area around Cascades fountain is very famous locals’ place. A few times we went here there was a picnic of scouts, and later – tango lessons. Citadel park is a nice place on a way to Barcelona beach for late evening.
A Stroll In The Park
Well worth a visit is the beautiful and picturesque Parc de la Ciatudella. We were fortunate enough to be staying in an apartment overlooking the park, and as such I was able to enjoy a morning stroll through the park more than once. As well as the fabulous monument it houses, as shown in the photograph, it also houses the Barcelona Zoo and beautiful greeneries among other things, including a parliamentary building.
If you are able to catch this place on a nice day, on an early morning when it quiet, then it can be an incredibly relaxing, humbling experience. Well worth a visit.

Parc de la Ciutadella
A good place to walk around to riding bicycle, see people doing interesting street entretainements, playing tennis-table or taking a boat in the litle artificial lake. Also reading or doing a 'siesta' in the grass... Y

PARC DE LA CIUTADELLA
This is a really beautiful park not far from the main sites. A nice place to take your picnic lunch on a sunny day and have a rest from the sightseeing beside the boating lake or lying on the grass somewhere. Although it does have some sights of its own. My favourite thing was the Cascada - a really grand fountain in the middle of the park. The grotto in the centre was one of Antoni Gaudi's first projects as a student.
The main drawback for me was all the work that seemed to be going on and meant that many paths and grassy areas were blocked off for access and there were barriers and tape up all over the place. It was a little confusing in some places to figure out where you were allowed and where you weren't. This may just be a short term thing though
Parc de la Ciutadella
The Parc de la Ciutadella was the stage for the world expo in 1888. It is a famous parc, that attracts a lot of visitors. It has a beautiful fountain that you can see on the picture. The vegetation in the parc is fantastic and if you take good look around you can see green parrots flying from one tree to the other.
One of my favourite things to do in great european cities is visit their magnificant parks. This park doesnt fail, with a fountain rivaling the fountains found in rome and vienna parks. It wasnt blooming when i went, but the architecture was there. We walked up the steps, then wandered to a complex, where we saw a office building with spanish people having their siestas. ha. I love the spaniards. Nearby was a really cool BMX convention.
Wonderful park with monuments worth looking at. try to inform yourself about their significane beforehand.
Quick nap under the trees
After visiting the Markets again to purchase some fresh fruit Kerry (Senioritasmile) and I decided to walk around and look for somewhere to sit, relax and have a snooze under a tree... Well we were a bit tired from a big night out in the Ramblas and Placa Reial...
Walking around we found this beautiful Park. What a great place to just lull a few hours away...
The fountain to look at is beautiful but the water is a dirty green colour but was spectacular when the fountains were on...
Lots of people just hanging around, children playing, lovers smooching... A great place for everyone to relax and chill. Bring a picnic and some wine and perfect... But my raspberries seemed to just hit the spot...
AlsoThe park is home to the zoo, zoological and geological museums, and art museum/gallery.

An oasis in Barcelona
You havn't seen the best of Barcelona unless u go to stroll through this wonderful Park. We were there in December, and I was surprised to see how many people were gathered there. Unfortunately when we were there, part of the Cascade fountain was being restored, so we didn't get the full effect. However, this didn't really detract that much from the experience. It was like a place of calmness and tranquility in the midst of the frantic pace outside of its gates. People were playing table tennis on the fixed table tennis tables in the park, older people were strolling slowly, pacing themselves as they got their exercise. Others were sitting at the cafe across from the fountain drinking hot coffees and considering it was winter, the more adventureous were even rowing in the lake within the park grounds. Wonderful statues, lovely trees. A definite must especially if you are travelling with children.
The Barcelona Zoo is also located within these grounds, so between the park and the zoo, allow yourself at least half a day.
At the northern corner of the park is the Cascada, a triumphal arch with waterfall and fountain built for the 1888 Universal exhibition.
It took 6 years to compete and was loosely based on the Trevi Fountain in Rome.
The baroque construction designed by Josep Fontsère who was assisted by Gaudi who was a student at that time.
- Museum Visits
This is the park in the city. We mainly came here to go to the zoo which is situated inside the park. There is a very nice fountain in thsi park but it was not working (does it????) Overall a nice place to go for a stroll away from the crowds.
Enter from the Arc De Triomphe as the walk down is lovely and you will get some great photos.
the green pulmon of Barna

Old and young are coming together and enjoy the.......well, it´s not really the silence but surely the sun. Part of the park is the zoo of Barcelona plus a zoologic museum.
