You're probably one of many who will be flying Ryan Air into Girona to save some cash. So, you'll also be one of many riding the bus into Barcelona's Estacio Del Nord. No fear. Once you land in Girona, you'll get in line and purchase your tickets for the bus. Most term the company "BarcelonaBus", but the actual company is called "Sagales". Everyone will be traveling together, so there's little confusion. It's only sixty miles, or so from Girona to Barcelona. The ride is quiet, scenic and convenient. Brand new buses leave you right downtown at the Estacio Del Nord, and cabs will be waiting at the curb. The price? Well, I believe it was $11Euro or so during my visit. Very reasonable. Please note: Cab drivers will rip you off. Watch them like a hawk. Leave a Comment

We used the RENFE train service from the Airport (Aeropuerto station is about 5 minutes walk from the main entrance of the airport using a moving walkway) to transfer to the centre of Barcelona. We didn't have to wait too long for it, as there is a train every thirty minutes, although, once it arrived, it quickly became crowded with passengers and their luggage. The train passed through some nice areas on the way, so the journey was enjoyable. Once in the town, The train stops at Barcelona Sants (also called Sants estacion), Placa de Catalunya and Arc de Triomf stations, from each of which it is possible to transfer to the Metro, enabling most people to connect directly with a line that would take them straight to the stop they wanted to reach, without requiring a further change. The tickets cost only a few Euros. The connection with the metro was not hard to find, as the station had clear colour coded signs, in a variety of languages but it was rather a long walk, involving several staircases, which were not so easy to climb with our cases, at the busy time we had arrived. The metro trains were also quite busy but there was plenty of room available for standing passengers and for our luggage too. There is a clear printable map available on the website listed, which shows the metro and other connecting public transport services, including the trains from the airport. Leave a Comment

El Prat de LLobregat, Barcelona's airport, is 12 km away from the centre of Barcelona. You can get to the city in three ways: By Bus (Aerobus): It takes about 30-40 min. The stops are (in this order): Plaza España, Gran Vía/Comte d'Urgell, Plaza Universidad and Plaza Cataluña. By train. It takes 25 min. (It stops in Sants Station, Plaza Catalunya Station, Arc de Triomf Station and Clot-Arago Station) By taxi: of course, the more expensive solution. The best way to get around Barcelona is by the metro (underground). It's fast and easy to use. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

After a hard day at the beach bar a lot of the party I was with couldn't quite face the half hour walk back to the hotel. So we looked for a cab...there were none around. The only mode of transport we managed to find was this pony and trap. This has to be the only way to travel around Barca! The poor old horse was knackered by the time he took us heavy lads back to the hotel. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

The public transportation in Barcelona is very good. From the airport to the city u can either take the train or a special bus which will drive u till the 'Plaza Catalunya' there u can find a tourist place w/ all kinds of info. Leave a Comment Theme: Train

When you're coming by plane, you will arrive at the El Prat International Airport. From there it's only 12 km to the city center. Both train and busservices are available from the airport to near downtown locations. 1: Trains: A train runs every 30 mins from 6am-11 pm, depsoting passengers at the main station called Sants. This is sitauted at some distance from most hostals and hotels, but metro trains are availlable from the same building. When you have your hotel'/hostal in the old town (barri gotic) the best Metro station to look for is Licieu. 2. Busses: Busses are availble from 2.30 am-11.10 pm, dropping passengers at the Placa d Espagna, where u can also find a station for metro lines. However, try to avoid taxi's from the airport to the cicy center. First they are very expensive, second: a lot of them are extremely creative in squeezing money out of the naive tourist. If you still insist in taking a cab. then make sure that the meter has been turned back following the last fare. We've had been lucky that we were that attentive! Another advice: - though i admitt it's difficult to do, when you're a first-time visitor - be very attentive during the ride, watch what route the man is taking, for he certainly will try to go to your hotel by a roundabout way, that may well give you a great touristic tour trhrough the city, but you probably would not have asked for!!! Cabs cost about 2500 pts. Metro: the best way of gettin around. Their layout is similar to the Paris system, and some of the entrances have even imitate their Art Nouveau model. Metrostations are safe and clean. And at some stations, there are still possibilities for that good old 'jumping over the gate', that will save poor (or: avaricious) students, like us again some 70 pts for a ride. You can, if you like to, buy a 1,3, and 5-day pass, good for unlimeted use on all forms of public transport. Their cost ranges from 275-1250 pts (but prices can have changed, the last time i was there was in 1999. Other transprtation: 1. color-coded buses: you will probably use the red ones, that pass through the city center or the blue buses, that ride at night. But try to use the subway: the buses are uncomfortable cause they are mostly overcrowded. 2. Rent-a-car. When you're a first-time visitor, dont even think about it. Barcalona traffic is a hell! The mainstreets of the city have 8 ways, traffic is extremely crowded, noisy and chaotic. Considering the Catalan style of riding cars it may ruin all the great memories you could collect in Barcalona! So, be smart and take the sub! Leave a Comment Theme: Other
