During my weekend in Barcelona, the first thing that became clear to me was the fact that there were so many attractions to get around in this vast city. I seriously doubt I would have seen half of what I did, if it wasn't for the Bus Turistic.
You can buy a one day (€17) or two day (€21) ticket, which allows you to get on and off as you please on any of the stops on the two (three during the spring/summer) routes around the city. With 40 stops on the routes, each one at a stunning attraction, I found this to be the best means of transport around the city for sightseeing.
You can buy your ticket from the tourist information, or when you first get on the bus at any of the stops.
If you want to see all the touristical places that Barcelona has to offer, like Sagrada Familia or Parc Guell etc, then I suggest you to take the bus touristique. These biplanes stop at Plaça Catalunya and take you through Barcelona and stop at every touristical site. You can buy a ticket for a whole day and this allows you to get on and get off this bus anytime a day, as long as they ride.
If you're sitting upstairs, make sure you wear sunscreen.
The Bus Turístic is probably one of the best ways to get around Barcelona and see many of the popular sites. This tour company has put together a network of three routes that circle the city and connect quite well with each other. One of the best benefits is purchasing the two day ticket which allows you to jump on and off the bus at any of its stops. The bus runs till 7pm I believe and starts at 9 am. The fare was 20 Euros for the two day ticket (16 for a single day). This can change as can the hours. Please visit the website below for updated information.
Oh yes, you can buy your tickets on the bus or at the information center at Plaça de Catalunya. They have some way of reserving/buying your tickets online but I would just go to either Plaça de Catalunya or get it on the bus. You have to pay in cash on the bus though.
There is a tour bus line running in and around the city of Barcelona, it is called City Sightseeing. They have 2 lines serving different routes, one red and one blue. Included in your ticket price, is a little book of vouchers. Use it wheneven you visit a recommended sighting point, ie. Sagrada Familia etc. You will get money off the ticket price etc!
This bus tour saves you time finding the correct metro line/stations etc. it is so easy to hop on and hop off between places.
You can buy 2 day passes, we bought 2 day passes each, spent 1 day on the red and another day on the blue line. =) so simple!
For sightseeing and visiting the most beautiful touristic places of Barcelona, you can take the tourist bus.
Stopping at 27 of the most interesting sights.
You can go on and off the bus at any stop place, and visit what you want. The ticket is valuable during the whole day.
It's useful if you don't have a lot of time:
There are 2 routes which cover the main highlights of the city, but this is not a guided tour... they just take you to the places and give you a guide. It's a transportation (you can't ask for a guided tour in this price)
You can get on and off the bus as many times as you want at any of the stops.
15 € (Adult 1 day)
19 € (Adult 2 Consecutive days)
You can buy the tickets on the bus or in any Tourist Office.
We bought a 2 day Bus Turistic ticket for the open top buses, it gave us a great view of Barcelona... They costed us 2,500 p each which we thought was a bit steep though...
I wouldn't recommend getting these tickets to anyone unless they have a lot of time and know exactly what they want to see. We only had a short time in Barcelona so we didn't have time to wait for buses or to sit on the bus for so long. Even in October the buses were fairly full and it was hard to get a seat on the top deck. But, it was nicer to see the city from the bus than to go on the metro like we had in other cities.
There is also a very good value tourist bus (Bus Turistic) that calls at all the popular tourist attractions. The service is divided into two routes, along which are 26 special bus stops. For the price of the ticket you can get on and off as many times as you like. There are special discount rates for several days and each ticket gives you a book of discount vouchers to be used at various attractions and outlets. This open-top bus really is the best way to get around the city. All the buses converge at the Placa de Catalunya, although you can get on one at any of the special stops. Tickets can be bought onboard or at one of the many tourist information offices.
Went on two bus tours round Barcelona. Each takes in one half of the city with some common points (imagine a squashed figure-of-eight).
These tours let you get on and off at any of the stops along the route and are a hassdle free way to see the main attractions
Bus Touristic is the best way to see everything. It drops you off at everything you would want to see and it really lets you see all of the city unlike the subway. Its the best to get your two day pass for $15 and get your bearings then use the subway
This was on Bus Turistic. If you want to see all the highlights in Barcelona this is the best way to get around. It has 25 stops and you won't miss it because they are clearly marked. It's great when you are only staying a few days.
Barcelona Bus Turistic. Probably the best way to visit the city by yourself. With the ticket of 1 day (2.200) or 2 days (2.800, always consecutive!) you can get on and off as many times you want during all the day as in the red route as in the blue. Also you'll obtain special discounts for museums, restaurants, shops, transportation... in the city.
Frequency is really short so you don't need to wait too much. Stops in the most important places to visit in the city: La Pedrera, Sagrada Familia, Park Güell, Pedralbes, Futbol Club Barcelona Stadium, Olympic Ring, Harbour, Olympic Village, Gothic Quarter... Where buy tickets? In the same bus or in the Tourist Information Office.
The famous 'Bus Turistic' now has competence with a new company called 'Barcelona Tours'. Differences???
1/ This 'Barcelona Tours' company is expensier than 'Bus Turistic' company. Ticket 1 day is 2.500 (bus turistic: 2.200), two days 3.100 (bus turistic: 2.800). Child here until 7 is free (bus turistic until 3 years, and from 4-12 years old is 1.300) in 'Barcelona Tours' 1 day ticket children is expensier 1.500 but two days is cheaper: 2.000 (Bus Turistic: 2.600)
2/Stops are almost the same ones for both companies
3/Bus Turistic has inside a guide that explain this different stops, Barcelona Tours is with head phones in 8 languages...more than in the Bus Turistic that's really useful for people with mother tongue not so common, available in: English/American, Catalan, German, Japanese, French, Russian and Italian
