Driving through this mountain area you will find lots of small, quiet and nice towns and little villages like the one on my picture.I don't know the name of that one because the picture was taken on the road, but is always a pleasure see places like that on the nature.
On this area you'll find also lot of campgrounds and small hotels and bed and breakfast, here in Spain they are called "Casas Rurales" and they are always located in small villages like that one or just outide of the towns in the nature.

Another interesting option if you are travelling for this area of Spain is make the "Romanesque Route".There are lots of beautiful romanesque architecture churches specially at Boí Valley,it is designed for UNESCO as World Heritage and in almost all small towns and villages of this area has a nice church to see.Mostly of all these small churches can be visited on that times: 10 a.m to 12 p.m and 4 .m to 8 p.m.
That valley is the second main entrance to the National Park by the south, and by car is about 1,30 hours from Espot.
Also very close to Boí in the little town of Caldes de Boí,you will find a very nice Spa,so if you feel stressed take a break here!. :-)
Soon I'll make a separate page to give you a little more of information.
Picture taken at St. Climent Church,in the town of Taull,it was built in XI century.

This picture was taken leaving the area on our way to Barcelona. We stoped to have a nice lunch in the small town of Barruera and then we took the highway to Barcelona.
We stoped on this small lake, where I saw a signal to visit an old Monastery, unfortunatelly I didn't had the time to see in this time,it was located just next to that lake.In all this mountain area, you'll find awesome landscapes!!.

Located at Central Pyrenees,in Lleida province, and including four regions of same province:La Alta Ribagorça,Pallars Sobirá,La Val d'Aran and El Pallars. It has an extension of 40.852 Hectareas.
There are more than 200 small lakes, the largest and most known is called St. Maurici. Also here you'll find lots of wildlife and botanical species,so this is the perfect place for nature lovers and birdwatchers.
As I said in my page intro, this last visit to that Park,it was closed for lot of snow and ice on the small roads to the acces to the Park.Lucky that we asked a gamekeeper that was near the entrance and he told us that we can go inside the National Park from another small road and then when we find ice on the road then,we can leave the car there and go walking inside. An that is what we did! at least we had the chance to spend about two hours walking in such a beautiful place and also I got a few very nice pictures!. :-)

Another good idea if you would like to see the park and don't want to walk too much is that one:Rent a 4X4 taxi-car to to there.Just next to that small church in the village of Boí,there is a sort of taxi stop.During my last trip there and because the Park was closed, the small parking lot was empty of cars.
When the Park is open normally during all summer and autoum seasons, they are placed and waiting for visitors here.
You can take one of this cars with driver, for one or two hours,I'm not very sure about the time, but I know that they will take you to see some of the best places inside the National Park, including lots of stops there to take photos and also to see a few of the small lakes and best landscapes.
The price is about 10 Euros per car and you can see them very easy because they don't have the word TAXI,they got a the name of AIGUES TORTES.
