Independence Square, Girona
Independence square was dedicated for troops, who fighted in Spanish War of Independence in 1808 – 1809. Square is quite popular place for local people.
Square consists of the monument for Independence fighters and neoclassical building around. In older times here convent of St. Augustine was located. Square for me looks quite similar similar to Royal square in Barcelona.
Independance Square is a place where you'll find a number of cafes and bars. They seem to be quite busy in the evening and during the day Placa Independencia is a nice resting spot with its trees and stone benches.
It's related to the War of Independence that took place in Spain in 1.808 against the french troops.
This square has arcades where you will find many bars, restaurants and shops.
