The structure of this building was built in 1194. It was based on Moorish and Roman designs. It underwent repairs in 1284 due to a siege the year prior which caused severe damage to the structure. The bath house was closed throughout most of the 15th century before being reused by a convent after private ownership in 1617. It was used then as a pantry, kitchen and wash house.

Girona university is one of the most typical renaissance buildings in Girona. It was found in 1443. During repressions in 1717 university was suspended. Nowadays it works making town active due to crowds of students.
St. Domenec monastery is located just nearby university of Girona and forms a common complex. The place is known from 13th century, building itself is the first in Catalonia, constructed in Gothic style.

The complex of medieval defensive walls is the one you could walk up and watch panoramas of town. The wall complex is split into two – one, North, part is smaller. The tower entrances allow going up the walls and taking a walk around almost whole side of old town. Nearby walls, outside old town nicely ecquiped gardens are located.
The surviving walls for me is an approval that city really have medieval atmosphere.

St. Feliu church together with Cathedral looks the most powerful and big in Girona old town. The church is modeled in Gothic style; actually the gothic spire of church is one of rare that is genuine in Spain.
Church contains the chapel of patron of St. Narcisus, saint of the flies. In 1285 attack of French, flies came from St. Narcisus tomb to help defending city. This action was a one more miracle to help Girona to defend its area.

Monastery and church was constructed in the year of 992 outside defensive walls of Girona. Monastery was never big one, keeping small numbers of monks and doing minimal services, as just baptism.
Church of Sant Pere de Galligants is known from 1130; probably the portal of it is from earlier church. Place is known as a great example of Catalan Romanesque architecture. Nowadays monastery houses Catalan Arheological museum.
Place looks ideal for taking great photos or just relaxing in the park near the church.

Cathedral of St. Mary is one of the main landmarks of town. The construction of this temple took quite long – from 11th till 17 th century. Outside look of the church is Romanesque mixed with Gothic. Church have a row of steps to go inside, one arch of church is widest arch of church in the World.
The place is known from Moor times, here was a mosque. Later at the same place Catholic church was built. Church is very rich in various religical art, the part of church is a museum of religical objects
Mostly, walking in and outside of Girona old town, it is hard not to see the spire of St. Mary’s Cathedral.

Church del Carme was built in 1750, mostly consisting of mostly baroque style. It is located going up Sant Marti street by stairs. At the left side of street there is Aguillana palace, formed in 14th – 17th centuries. Both church and palace create a piece of Girona baroque.

Column with a sculpture of Lioness seems to be as popular in Girona as St. Nepomuk statue in Prague. Actually there is a legend: you have to kiss an ass of the Lioness if you wish to come back to Girona more times or to have happy citizen life in Girona.
I believe that Column of the Lioness was refurbished many times, but the style of it, as guidebooks tells, is Romanesque.
Yah, haven’t kissed it, I believe that such act, but good cheap flights option could be a return chance :)

The baths complex was built in the 12th century. Anyway, name “Arab” is put to commemorate that few hundreds years ago Arab baths stood at the same place. The building itself is nothing special. We haven’t visited it inside.
Inside planning, as guidebooks tell, consist of a collider and four rooms: one for relaxing, the second is for cold baths, the third is for warm water and the last one is for hot baths.
