Small towns in the area typically only have one market day per month. But Granollers is the capital of the valley area and therefore has their market day once a week, Thursday.
The entire city center becomes a pedestrian zone. Good luck finding parking anywhere on the outskirts of the city. You will likely have a good long walk in since parking is usually hard to comeby in Granollers, let alone with all the surrounding communities come together.
Originally it was a produce and meat market, but over the generations things have changed. You can still find plenty of food items, but now clothing, household items and even kids toys are readily available.

Granollers is a small village that is rapidly becoming a city. There is a huge increase in industry and business in the area that is attracting professionals. This results in a boom of clothes stores, shoe shops and other fashion-wise shopping.
The costs are roughly the same as other cities and shopping areas, but the concentration is much higher in Granollers.
Apart from shopping, I find there to be not much in Granollers center. I believe the few people who do not have the luxury of shopping, or the local youth too find it a bit boring. That might explain why if you look away from the shops and down the small streets or along the rail tracks you will see copious amounts of graffiti and wall art.

The growth area to North of BCN
(the church above was heavily damaged in a civil war. The interior has been rebuilt quite nicely to show a wonderful mixture of old and new) I've had the chance to visit Granollers a few times over...
