    Bag Snatching

by SLK Written Aug 14, 2009

I didn't see this but heard about it whilst talking to a lady at the airport. Apparently a lady was sitting at a bar with her bag on the table, a man ran past, grabbed it and ran off. Of course trying to give chase in flip flops was never going to work.

After nearly getting my bag taken whilst in Madrid I now sit with my bag over my shoulder even when sitting in a bar. It's not worth the hassle of someone running off with your money passport and travel papers.

If you're concerned please use the hotel safe and only take a smallish amount of money out with you then if your bag or wallet gets stolen they may have only got away with 20E.

You may not like the views

by scottishvisitor Updated Nov 28, 2007

I came to Lloret under no illusions of seeing great views from the hotel or indeed any other views from the resort. Here they tore nearly everything down to create a hotel land. I do like reflective photography and could not resist snapping the warning triangle on the apartments facing our balcony. No real danger and no real warnings just a cautionery note mostly to self.

    Sunbathing.

by Pauldelabar Updated Nov 15, 2005

When coming out to ANY destination in Spain, beware that the sun can burn you here without you knowing it until it is too late and you end up looking like Lobster Thermidore.

The recommended amount of sunbathing that you should do on the first day, (especially if you are fair skinned), is TEN MINUTES. I know that does not sound a lot but keeping out of the sun may mean that you have a comfortable holiday.

Also always use the recommended sun block lotion for the resort you are visiting. Please also remember that young children cannot regulate their heat as well as adults. This applies to anywhere in the world, not just Spain.

Always shower off the salt when you have been in the sea or salt water swimming pool before any more sun exposure. Otherwise it is like putting salt on pork rind and no one wants to end up as pork crackling! By the way, beware of the little showers on the beach. They are intended for removing sand and are SALT water; so a shower in your apartment / hotel is better unless you are CERTAIN that the water is not salty!

Have a safe, enjoyable but most of all, comfortable holiday.

    Thieves, dancing in the street

Avoid happy strangers who pretend to be drunk, because the football-team won. They are calculated thieves and very, very sober. If they want to dance with you push them away from you , don't let them touch.
