Palamós Things to Do

  • Fishing Museum

This is the only fishing museum of this kind in the whole Mediterranian area. This is a very impressive and special museum, worth a visit, if you want to see how deep the life in Palamos is related with fishing. And off course, if you are interested in fishing.Besides this, the Museum is explained in 5 languages: Catalan, Spanish, English, French...

If it rains, ask for "Aparthotels de Can Mario". This is a kind of hotel, but its bar its public for everyone, not only hotel guests. And there, if you have children needing to get tired, there is a construction in which they get a lot of fun and cannot be injured. This construction includes a "ball pool", two slides, some "difficulties to...

  • More about travelling with kids

I think the best place in Palamós for a child to play is the beach, at any time of the year. Please be aware that sun easily burns on his skin and so do not forget to cream him, to put him a hut and to let him play underneath a sunshade.Once said, another place for your kids to play are our four different swing-places:* Two of them are located at...

  • Do u like it more intimate on the beach?

... than you shouldn't miss the "cales", very little tiny, romantic and wondefull beachesThese can only be reached walking (and sometimes climbing!!!) and are NOT sandy, but with little stones. On them there are almost no turists...In Palamós there are plenty of them to enjoy (there are many!)By the way, in one of them was Palamós founded.

  • If you are there in summer...

There are 3 sandy beaches. 2 of them easily to be reached walking. + "Platja Gran": Once IN the water, within 3 mtr. a child doesn't reach with his feet the bottom. Sand is not too fine, but very clean. This beach builds the northern end of the "bay of Palamos" and this includes Platja d'Aro and Sant Antoni de Calonge. At one side of it, there are...

  • Fish auction / "Subhasta de peix"

Every day, except sundays and mondays, fishermen go fishing with their boats. This has been like this ever since the 16th. century. At about 16:30 hr. they come back and first get their fisch out of the boats. Inmediately after, will be brought to the "auction-haus", which is right next. And once bought (only possible for owners of fisch-shops) fish...

Palamós Restaurants

  • Eat where the Spanish eat

Around 3 o'clock in the afternoon 'Can Paco' is bustling with activity. It seems every Spaniard in Palamos wants to eat there. The food is excellent. The atmosphere typically Spanish but in a trendy sort of way. Sepia a la Plancha.

  • It all depends on your budget!

This is only a general tipp about restaurants in Palamós.In my hometown there are really a lot of restaurants about many different themes. It all depends on how much do you want to spend. For those of you who want to eat (at least once) very good, please, don't miss Restaurant "La Gamba". This excellent and since many, many years family-from-town...

  • For budget travelers, 3 choices

This suggestion are specially for those of you who cannot afford (not even once!!) the above tipps: If you want to eat with us, "aborigenes", without spending much money and, however, tasty, head to "El Pi": There you get the "Bred with crushed tomatoes" as I explained above.Next to it, you find "El Racó" which is a pizzeria. But don't make the...

Palamós Nightlife

  • Port Marina

Port Marina unfortunately is not anymore the spot to spend summernights next to the sea, with music, drinks and disco flair. It has all changed now and if you go by night,... you might be alone there...Unfortunately!You may rather go during daylight... No ties! No overdressed, please!!!

Palamós Transportation

  • A little trip around Palamós

The "Carrilet" is a funny way to know Palamós. This kind of train is pulled by a motor and has wheels (!!!), like on a truck. However one side is completely open. It runs, of course, only in summer. The ticket will be sold to you by the driver, once you seat. No reservations are necesary. And all the way takes roughly one hour.

And I think these surroundings are well worth t rent one.The only public transportation to...

If you like "happy" music, you shouldn`t miss the "Sardana". Every tuesday at night -beginning at 22:00 hrs.- in summertine, near the fountain at the beginning of the sea promenade- you can see and enjoy it, watching locals how do they dance it.

This music ist always plaid by a little orchestra called "Cobla" and if you got there at the time I said, you can`t miss it. This event lasts roughly 2 hours each tuesday.

In Barcelona, at Montjuic-hill there is a monument showing people dancing it. Its name is, of course, "Sardana" ;-)

Palamós Favorites

  • The beach and harbour

When you don't lke just sunbathing and tanning, you should have a walk at the harbour (on the left side of the pic) which is open for public. When visiting the right time you'll be able to buy some fresh fisch or other sea food. The fisher sell it from their boats and that's cheaper then buying it in a store.
