Try the Coast Road
Travel through Begure keeping the ocean to your left hand side then go down to the coast road. The road winds down to tiny little deserted coves, and there the road becomes very narrow in places, great care is need along this stretch of road, but the views along the way are spectacular. You can stop off at the tiny inletts if you can find a place to park!
Aerials of Radio Liberty
The aerials of Radio Liberty are not there anymore. I've kind of mixed feelings about it, one part of me still thinks it's a pity as it was a part of history. I only hope that the landscape were the aerials stood for so many years, will become a protected area. There is already too much concrete in our coasts.
Below, the original tip:
A surprising landscape: a long beach dominated by serried ranks of huge red aerial towers!!! These are really impressive. Why they are here???
Those aerials once broadcast “Radio Liberty”: during the cold war times, the message from America against communism in the Eastern bloc departed from here. They were so huge as the message should reach the distant Russia… amazing.
To reach the beach, follow the directions to “Platja de Pals”. There is a residential area, with a small seafront promenade. At the end of the street, you can have a nice view of the aerials (btw, the area just in front of the arterials is a naturist beach).

Platja de Pals – An amazing beach.
Because we stayed at Pals for the summer we were able to visit more than just one beach. In our second week we ended up at the beach at Platja de Pals, which is without doubt one of the most attractive beaches I have visited. From some locals we heard that this particular beach has been regularly voted one of the best places to visit in the Costa Brava. But don’t they say that all to the tourists? LOL
Platja de Pals is a quiet location with low-rise apartments and villas in residential areas along the beachfront and around the championship golf course. The long, sandy beach stretches north to L’Estartit and south towards Sa Riera where the typical rocky coves and dramatic coastal scenery are typical of the Costa Brava. This means more than 3 kilometers long and around 40 meters wide. This amazing beach is 9 kilometers away from the city of Pals with easy access from the coast road and plenty of parking. Surprisingly for the Mediterranean, there are some decent waves when the Levante or Tramontana winds are blowing, making it good for surfing, windsurfing or kitesurfing. There is plenty of space for volleyball and other beach games, and you can sign up for boat and diving trips to the Isles Medes further up the coast.

Platja de Pals – Stunning coastline.
If you like to stay near stunning coastlines on your camping holidays, Spain is an excellent choice of destination. The country has three seaboards to choose from: the Mediterranean, the Cantabrian and the Atlantic, all with an exceptional climate and a coastline which offers a whole world of possibilities. And particularly if you're one of those people who believe that the beach is not just for lying around. In addition to the great beaches and excellent campsites at these destinations, there are many attractive coastal towns to choose from for your camping holidays in Spain. These are ideal places to visit on day trips, and whether you want to enjoy chic sophistication or historical elegance there is sure to be a town that suits your needs.
The coast of the Costa Brava stretches from Blanes to the French border and is rich and varied with long sandy beaches, marshlands and rocky outcrops. Right here at the north east coast you will find Pals and Platja de Pals. Coupled with an exceptionally warm climate, this coastline has long attracted large numbers of overseas and domestic tourists. But most of all, a visit to this region is not complete without having a look at the beach area (Platja de Pals), because the long and sandy beaches stretching along the Mediterranean coast are a great place for relaxation and water sports. We stayed at a campsite near the beach, so for us it was quite common to stay some days at the beach and enjoying the day.

Platja de Pals – Tinto de Verano.
The only downside to visiting the beaches is it gets busy at sometimes. But just arrive in time and you will find a parking place for the car and a good spot on the sandy beach anyway. We enjoyed ourselves very much by swimming, writing messages in the sand, have a homemade picnic, threw some frisbee, building sand castles, read some book, did some sun bathing, we looked for seashells, watched the sunset or just did some daydreaming and relaxation. Just an ordinary day at the beach. Of course, the truth of the matter is that going to the beach is usually fun no matter what you do there because you're getting away from real life and enjoying a scenic travel destination. It's just nice to know that there are plenty of things to do besides suntan and swim while you're there!
Finally I can say that there are shops, restaurants and bars within easy walking distance of the beach. Right here you can sit under a sunshade and enjoy a Tinto de Verano (red wine with lemonade and lots of ice) and a plate of sardines, or you could try the lobster paella. Do keep in mind that the restaurants are on the pricy side …
