    Port Aventura Theme Park

Port Aventura is a large theme park just outside Salou, it has all the main "big" rides, plus , children's rides and lots of live shows. You really need to plan your way around this site to fit in all it has to offer.
Note, the times of the shows you wish to see, and the areas they are in, get there in good time as the theatres soon fill up.
The disabled and senior citizens can get in at a reduced rate as some rides are inaccessible for those with a disability. They do hire out wheelchairs and pushchairs, but we found this very expensive, so if you do have your own, I advise you to take it along with you.
You can spend a good week -end there by staying in one of their hotels.

You are advised to check out their web site before going as some rides are closed at various times of the year.

You are not allowed to take your own food in.

We enjoyed our day there, but felt it hard to navigate the site.

The one thing that surprised us, was, you have to pay €6 for parking, that along with the admission fee we thought was uncalled for.

No trip to Salou would be complete without spending a day at the Port Aventura theme park. Just a short bus ride away from the main town, Port Aventura is divided into several different themes, so you can visit Imperial China and Aztec Mexico all in the same day!

There's something for everyone here. Don't be put off by the images of the famous Dragon Khan rollercoaster (I didn't go on it!!!) there are plenty of tamer attractions. There are even a couple of shows, one is called Templo de Fuego and is a fire show in the dark (probably not suitable for very young children), another is a Wild West Show with cowboys, stunts, explosives and horses etc.

All good fun if you enjoy theme parks.

Mad day out in the best theme park i've been to.

by shizzler Written Feb 18, 2008

Go to port aventura. It's a huge theme park with 4 -5 different worlds inside. Home to the biggest rollercoaster in Europe the dragon khan, in the China town section of the theme park and some other mad rides and shows, you'll love your time here. Ideally you should get a 3 day pass or something as it works out cheaper and you can't get round it in a day. We managed to but we had to rush and miss lots of things. I think you can get reduction on entry to costa caribe waterpark too if you get a ticket to port aventura so it makes sense to get a 3 day ticket and spend a whole day in the waterpark too. Port aventura is great for all ages as they don't just have rides, they have shows with wild birds and animals etc. Boat rides and simulators are in the park also.

Port Aventura Theme Park, designed by the creators of Alton Towers, Busch Gardens and Universal Parks Orlando... once owned by the Universal company, now Caixa banking group and the main reason for the millions of visitors to Salou each year.

The Theme Park is just one part of the Port Aventura experience... it also has 3 hotels, one on site (The PortAventura Hotel) and 2 hotels adjacent (The Caribe Resort and The El Paso). It also has it's own waterpark.. Caribe Aquatic Park.
I have stayed at the Caribe resort and would highly reccommend it.

The theme park consists of several themed lands, these being China, Mexico, Polynesia, The Far West and Mediterranea. Each of these lands are very well depicted with typical architecture and detail. Cultural music of each area is gently piped around, this is not too loud and adds character to each area you visit.
See my other "Things to do" tips for a little on each area.

Fun things to do in Salou…….there’s the theme park, if you like waiting, a lot! There loads of little nice beaches between Salou and Cap Salou, well it’s really one long one with some jutty out rock bits every now and again. Better than the big one, which is a very good beach, but it does tend to get rather busy…..There’s the railway station where you can get a train to Barcelona! Emm you could watch “Only Fools And Horses” 24 hours a day, mmm that sounds like lots of fun. There is a brilliant Elvis impersonator, and a Frank and there’s loads of clubs if you’re a young person of dubious moral value. But best of all there is the freak barmaid in Bar Zeppelin; she’ll make you wait longer than the queue for the best ride ever. Port Aventura beware this bint will take your custom.

this si the local theme park and well worth at least one visit. the rep price for this was the same as the gate price so we pre booked our tickets. i wish however that we had not as there were 3 young girls going home who still had one day left on there ticket and was selling them at 20e when we paid 37e. i would suggest however if you chose to do this then i would have sent one member through the turnstail and then paid making sure that this was not a scam. one lady did purchase these and there was no problem with her's BUT BE CAREFUL dont get caught out.

    DRAGON KHAN ROLLER COASTER

China has gotta be my favourite area within the Park... Why... One reason... DRAGON KHAN One of the best roller coasters I have been on... an eight looping beast that is just fantastic. The queues (lines) when I've been there rarely get to be more than 20 mins, although I'd wait double for this if I had too!!!
The whole area is meticulously laid out with fine detail... there's even a Great Wall !!! This area geographically is on the the opposite side of the park from the entrance, so if you're looking to get to Dragon Khan first then it's about a 20 minute walk (my theory is don't rush... have a beer... we will get to it eventually!) It's also the highest part of the park, so you can overlook the rest of the park from the Great Wall.
We saw a brilliant Dance show in the theatre here too... air conditioned in here as well; which was a welcome break from the heat outside.
A good selection of food is available here, especially if you like chinese.

    PORT AVENTURA - MEXICO

    HURAKAN CONDOR

The Mexico area of Port Aventura features the Parks newest attraction... HURAKAN CONDOR... At 328ft high and a fall of 282ft, this mammoth gravity fall ride is the largest in the world!!! I'll admit it... I was too scared to go on it! but by the the look of fear on the riders faces I think I made the right decision... I will go on it next time... probably.
This area also includes El Diablo Mine train; a fairly mediocre runaway train ride, for my liking it's too stop/start, the kids enjoyed it though. Templo Del Fuego is another attraction worth visiting here... it's a show (of a kind) featuring water, fire and explosions... a type of Indiano Jones themed show... The finale of the show is fantastic!!! just don't stand too close.

    PORT AVENTURA - MEDITERRANEA

    by ALANinWORCS69 Updated May 28, 2006

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

    MEDITERRANEA

The Mediterannea area of the park is the first area you arrive in. It's set out in great and accurate detail... themed around a typically Mediterranean fishing village, although the sea in this instance is a lake. There aren't any rides here except the Station for the steam train that circles the park... (a great way to get your bearings on your first visit is perhaps take this.) Also here is the dock for the boat ride ride which takes you from Mediterranea to China ( one way trip only... either way).
In the high season and other special events a Finale show is featured over the lake... an awe inspiring event featuring music, fireworks, lasers, kites, speedboats and a carnival procession of watercraft depicting each of the Lands within the park. Not to be missed!!! ... get a place to view early, about 20 mins minimum, as it soon fills up.
