Reus airport is only 15~20 minutes from Salou.
You can hire a taxi for the ~15 minutes and spend ~20EUR.
Alternatively you can take the Plana Bus to Cambrils, Salou, Cap Salou, Pineda which costs ~6EUR and leaves outside the arrivals hall. web site below has more details and contact information.
Your hotel will be about a 10 minute walk from most nightlife areas.

The Plana bus is the best way to see the area.
Buy one of their card from any tobacconist for €12, that's €2 for the card and €10 worth of travel, you can top the card up as you need it, without paying the €2.
Travel takes you as far as Tarragona and Reus as well as the local area.
Plana also do reasonably priced trips to Montserrat and Barcelona.

For a bit of fun, why not take the little train that runs around Salou, it goes along the promenade and into the old town. You can change onto other little trains to go to some of the other beaches, Port Aventura, and onto Cape Salou.
The round trip takes about an hour, so good value and a good way to see the sites.
The price is €3:30. per trip (2007 price).

Salou has good train links between Barcelona, Tarragona and Reus. They run on time and are are reasonably priced, I traveled on them a couple of times to Tarragona.
If you are of a certain age, don't forget to ask for a senior ticket, there is a great saving on the price. You do not need any identification or proof of age.
DO NOT forget to validate your ticket before boarding the train, you will see these ( they look like ITM box's) in the ticket office or on the platform.

Ok so its not a real train, its a road train but its a more interesting way of getting around the town than by bus. We took a little trip around Salou on this train for something to do before we got picked up to go to the airport. A nice way to spend a bit of time without working up a sweat in the sunshine!

the la plana bus service has just gone to a 24 hour service in the holiday season. this yr for the first time the buses have been stream lined . each bus has its destination and number clearly displayed on a digital board on the front of the bus. usually it will give other destination stops for that route as well (eg CAMBRILS, vilafortuny, SALOU, la pineda,TARRAGONA.) BUS 4... the buses have a great route system, now you can go to reus , portaventura, etc .if the bus you see has,nt the destination you want displayed it is,nt going there.. fares are simple only one price eg vilafortuny to tarragona is 2 euros one way ,when you board its bascially the destination + the number in your party ( there is no childrens & oap fares.) at the moment there are la plana staff walking around resort giving leaflets & and info out ,they are wearing high viz jackets. there is also new buses to barrcalona the trips go to various destinations even the football stadium and they bring you back the prices are very reasonable . the web is www.autocarsplana.com

the prices we found very good and if you get to plana they will give you a map of the their routes and then you can go and explore for yourself. if its a long trip then get on the coach type as this will be a much better experience

On arrival at reus airport whilst waiting for your bags there is a small booth it sells seats to all the hotels in la pineda / salou / cap de salou. 5.3 euros one way and 10 euros and adult return. We caught a taxi for 27 euros for all four, theres no saving to be made unless theres 1 or 2 of you. We got an 8 seater back for 37 euros! Taxis are plentiful at the airport just head out and they line up to the left. On arrival they produce a folder with all the hotel prices typed out for you. Make sure they read the right one, mine made a dishonest mistake but hey Ive been before. A great bargain was the Barcelona coach trip for 18 euros! which can be bought on arrival or in resort.

Best way to get around is on foot, but if going a bit far, we got bus to Aquapolis in la penida, and taxi to Cambrils fishing port, and coach to Barcelona, other than that, you can walk round Salou no problem...

This train brings you to all the tourist spots of Salou (it wasnt there when we were there). You have a local tour which shows you all the beaches and places to go. The other tour is to the nature and all the beauty surrounding Salou.
You can go to the old city where all is like acient times. Also there are big places where you can shop like being on a market. So you can spend your time on different ways.
