Salou Things to Do

  • Port Aventura

Port Aventura is a large theme park just outside Salou, it has all the main "big" rides, plus , children's rides and lots of live shows. You really need to plan your way around this site to fit in all it has to offer. Note, the times of the shows you wish to see, and the areas they are in, get there in good time as the theatres soon fill up. The...

  • Beaches

A clear blue sea... a white and empty stripe of sand... a coconut tree... that's Salou. Excuse - me, I was reading a brochure, but reality is... almost that: The clear blue sea is somewhat greenish but OK. The white sand is brown. The coconut tree is palm tree. To empty the stripe of sand I just have to invite out the 20 or 30 thousand...

  • Aquapolis Water Park

Go to bar Zeppelin and just gasp in amazement at the sight that is the bar beast from hell. They should make documentaries about this woman, if indeed it is a woman, is that a lump in your throat dear? Oh I dont mean to go on about her but it's such fun. Be sensible; there is a Huge theme park, and if you go along to the harbour end of town, some...

  • Cambrils Fishing Port

Cambrils is the ajoining resort to Salou and just a €1:50 bus ride away.(2010), It's a much quieter place than Salou with lovely sandy beaches a very smart marina, there are some very nice fancy shops to spend your money in. There are some excellent fish restaurants on the beach road facing the marina. Do try some of their homemade ice cream,...

  • Promenade

Why not take a long walk along the promenade. Salou has beautiful sea front, stretching from the Cambrils end right to the far North of Salou which is quite a few miles, taking you along the beautiful beaches. It is flat with plenty of seats to sit on along the way, plus plenty of free toilets. It is flat and very wheelchair friendly. The walk way...

  • Fountains

A nice thing to do on an evening is walk to the fountains at the boulevard for on certain evenings they have a lightshow wiht music. We liked it sure but since we are not too patient to stay in a place for too long we walked on to see more of Salou at night. When my father saw this photograph he said: "So! you only like to see the back of me eh!"

  • Fancy a shag?

Bus Stop bar on Avinguda d'Andorra sells (or did sell when I was there) a beer called 'Shag' which I can imagine is pretty popular for its name alone.Bus Stop was a haunt of my girly holiday and closed for refurbishment on my couples holiday - probably a good thing because there were some lush barmen here the first time round! ;-)

Ah 007. The most recent time I went to Salou I was disappointed to find out from the rep that 007 was being refurbished so this review is from the first time I went.007 is a James Bond theme bar but the staff dress up in fancy dress. I remember walking past one night and they were all in khaki and combats, another time the man at the door was...

  • Not as good as Flashback!

Snoepys is a fairly popular nightclub in Salou but both times I went here I found that the music really wasn't my cup of tea (bit too dancy trancy for me).The first time round however (on my girls holiday, not my couples holiday) I did notice that the barmen were all topless and wearing bow ties. The promotions men are rather friendly but...

This lady was a Dutch grandma. She always travelled alone, since her husband died. We could go along with her just fine. She used to eat some diners with us. I think she is not alive anymore (you never know) but if she is, i like to tell her that she was a pleasant friend in this holiday!

Salou Warnings and Dangers

  • Don't sit in the sand

Acquainted to the Portuguese sand, which is soft, smooth, and gentle to your body, I had a bad experience in Salou. In my first day I became suspicious when, having rented two chairs, the guy came with an electric drill to install the umbrella. Efficient, I thought, and forgot it. Having paid for the renting more than the umbrella' cost, and with...
