Not far at all from Barcelona by train. (Less than an hours ride) Get on the train in Barcelona early or you may not have a seat.
Fondest memory: The mix of traditional Spanish architecture and Roman influence. Note the picture below.
In the year 218 b.C, the Romans arrived to what is nowadays the city of Tarragona and remained there until the late 2nd century of our era (For them also was a wonderful place to stay ;-) yeah!). As a result of their presence and the influence thay had on the area, we may nowadays find many architectural remains that are a tribute to this civilisation. I should mention specially: the Roman amphitheatre, the Roman Road, The Forum, The Circus, the Palace of the Magistrate, the summer residence of Pontius Pilate, and the temple devoted to Emperor Augustus...
Fondest memory: When I'm away from Tarragona I miss all the Cultural Heritage of this great city!
go to the beach...
there is just next to the touristic port a pretty and little beach. I really enjoyed that beach cause it's more quite and intimate of the bigger one and it's easilly reachable from the train station.
Fondest memory: What I'll never forget it's the colour of the sand. Tarragona it's along the COSTA DAURADA 'golden coast' and it' unbelievable but true.... it seems that some gold powder it's mixed to the sand so that the beach it's brightening and golden!!! It's so cool!!!
go to SALOU (some 15 km from Tarragona) to see what the famous COSTA DORADA is all about. Salou is the most lively resort on the Costa Dorada. The coastline is mainly flat, with shallow waters and the long beaches of golden sand from which it takes its name.
If you are already there don't miss a visit in PORT AVENTURA - Spain's first Thematic Park - where you will get to know five different cultures: Mediterrania, Mexico, Polynesia, China and the Far West. It is a VT World in a miniature ;-)
Favorite thing: One day is enough to visit Tarragona but if you do it in the summer watch out with the sun. it can be very hot. Take some precautions.
Favorite thing: Haha, in one street there so many doorknobs .. I had to be selective ... besides that, my father just walked on while I was trying to decide which one to photograph ...
Favorite thing: I saw some nice doorknobs and had to photograph them of course since Venice had some nice ones too...small details and my father thought I had gone mad yet I just love this kind of things.
Other nice tip is Perxar. As you guys see in the picture with a that boat and a big kind of pole we can sail the delta. It is hard to "drive" it.
It's only €3 per person 1 hour.
Favorite thing: this is TUTUKI SPLASH, one of the best atractions in POLYNESIA AREA
Favorite thing: This is a map, where you can see all the AREAS,and the Hotels,in PORT AVENTURA THEME PARK
Favorite thing: Here you can see, DRAGON KHAN,is the largest Rollercoaster in Europe!.Is located at CHINA AREA.
visit the Roman ruins. There are many all around the town. The largest and best kept is the amphitheatre.
Fondest memory: Stroll along the Rambla nova to the viewpoint over the Mediterranean sea.
Favorite thing: Rent a bike and ride it throught the rice fields. In May the fields are full of water, and step by step it gets greener as the rice grows.
Visit museums and ancient roman places: Amfiteatre, Circ, Pretori, and Forum Roma.
Walk on Rambla Nova to Balco del Mediterrani.
Fondest memory: Museu Nacional Arquelogic de Tarragona.
