Town Hall, Tarragona
On our way back towards Rambla Nova we passed by a long square. It is Plaça de la Font (Fountain’s Square) and house the Town Hall of Tarragona (pic 2). Along the square covering both sides of it there are numerous café/tapa bars and restaurants for those who want to eat something or just like to watch to people passing by.
The square was actually built over the 450m long Roman Circus. We just took some pictures of the square and left.
Town hall building stands in Plaza de la Fuente. The square was created at a place, where ancient Roman circus was located. Nowadays here stands a building of first half of 19th century, called differently as Ajuntament.
Plaza de la Fuente is a cozy place with some restaurants, bars around. We took a dayly meal in one of them.
Ajuntamento or City Hall of Tarragon is just nice building built in XIX century where the city government works now. So, there is nothing special, just a building and a square in front of it with underground parking lot under the square and nothing else. And I don’t have any idea why the City Hall building was subdivided into special category. Since it is situated at the Plaza de la Font or the Fountain Square in central part of Tarragona you will no miss this building.
