  • Walk the Town Walls

Tossa old town lies behind the old town walls which have lots of little paths and walkways to explore. Hidden amongst these are little cottage-style houses and a few restaurants.Tossa de Mar was first brought to the outside world in the fifties when it was picked as the set location for the famous film, Pandora & the Flying Dutchman, starring the...

  • Hollywood connection

We found a statue of a beautiful woman in evening dress overlooking the town with no plaque. I have since done some research and found out it is named 'Pandora'and was put there in 2008. In the 1950's Hollywood came to Tossa! James Mason and Ava Gardner filmed "Pandora and the Flying Dutchman", making the village a tourist attraction. It was then...

  • Fishing boats!

The town was once reliant on fishing and even now many residents take their small boats out in the morning and evening. It's fascinating to watch (mostly old men) preparing the boat, getting it to the water's edge and then spot their lights bobbing offshore at dusk . Once we went for a 7 a.m swim, the sea was like a millpond and we watched as they...

  • The Old Town's fortified walls

My partner suffers from vertigo so I didn't get to walk along the wall and enjoy the stunning view for as long as I would have liked!! To be fair the railings are low and you would have to watch little ones like a hawk. What I liked most is the opportunity to peek onto peoples sun terraces and catch glimpses of the restored interiors ;-) One...

We loved roaming through the small shops and eating/drinking in the outdoor...

PHOTOS FROM OUR STAY IN TOSSA........ We walked around the old walled ruins of the original city, climbed on cliff paths overlooking the beaches, and swam at the topless beach. Fantastic lunchtime deals at this very friendly restaurant. 14.90 euros for the Menu del Dia which is a bit more than what you pay at the places surrounding the beach but the quality and freshness of the food is worth it.For that you get 3 courses including wine, water and bread and the fish suggestions are superb and they even rustled up an Arroz...

It's a fish and potato stew and there was a special event planned just after we were due to leave...restaurants competing to make the best version of this dish! • Not In The Marina

Numerous restaurants are located near the beach, right at the marina. They're expensive as you need to pay for the view. IMHO it's better to go a little deeper into the town and have a decent lunch at a decent price there. The free-of-charge view attached below.

  • Drinks expensive

There were only two nightclubs open when we visited. My eldest daughter and her husband went one night and although it was free to get in the drinks were three times the price. No other english were there only the local spanish youngsters. I would imagine it would be more lively later in the season.

  • There isn't much

I think there are two nightclubs only - and didn't seem to be the Ibiza-types.If you are into nightlife then Tossa is centred on quiet bars and restaurants.(One mini golf and one "ten-pin bowling" alley - bars really!)

Tossa Transportation

  • Bus from 'Barcelona' airport

Ryanair users may be aware that the airport you fly into is much nearer to Girona than Barcelona. We did think about spending a day in this city before heading to Tossa but the connections to Girona were surprisingly poor (2/3 a day). So we decided to catch a more frequent bus to Lloret de Mar then catch a connecting bus. Our flight was delayed so...

  • Tourist Cruises

Tourist cruises run to and from Tossa de Mar. They're very popular and quite inexpensive. During a cruise you can see the picturesque coastline as well as coloured faces of other passengers who become sea-sick. Sometimes you can't chose where to look.Tickets can be bought here - in a booth on the beach.

Tossa Shopping

Tossa is a typical tourist oriented town so here you'll be able to purchase all sorts of more or less ugly articles sold solely to tourists.

In this picture you can see several bottles of sangria, all of them 'attractively' shaped and less attractively priced. To be purchased in numerous shops around Tossa.
