El Barrio the old quarter of Alicante lies at the feet of the Co-Cathedral of San Nicolas. This is a very lively neighbourhood at night. People af all ages go there to enjoy the numerous pubs, bars and taverns.
Santa Cruz is the name of the old quarter on the slope of Benacantil mount.

On May 3rd, the day of the Holy Cross (Santa Cruz), the quarter celebrates a nice feast. The streets are decorated and crosses are made with flowers.
El barrio is the old neighbourhood in Alicante and has with it's narrow streets and old buildings a nice area to go for a walk.
El barrio is mainly known for it's high number of bars and discoteques, but also by daytime it's a nice place to go for a walk to enjoy the beauty of the arquitecture.
