Maida: Hand made silver jewellery

The shop is a wealth of silver jewellery to suit all tastes - the glass cabinets tempt you to part with your cash and they are very helpful if you want, or are happy to let you ponder your decision whilst looking around.

What to buy: This has to be my favourite shop for gifts for people, mainly women as its jewellery. All hand made they produce some wonderful peices and the prices are very good. With lots of choice and a bespoke service as well you´re bound to come out with something.

I bought my wedding jewellery here, and a gift for my father and my sister as well, not to mention countless other times I have bought for friends.

What to pay: Anything from about 8 euros upwards.

I cannot recommend only one shop, as there are too many, so am recommending the whole old town experience! Saunter thru the small lanes filled with restaurants and tapas bars and craft shops. Altea is artists heaven.... with views to die for.

Its wonderful to go with your partner and amble around ,take in a glass or two os sangria and then find a restaurant to sit and enjoy a good meal in. also do take in the viewing point in front of the church which overloks the whole of the bay from Benidorm to Calpe.

What to buy: Art work like pottery, paintings, hand made jewellery.
