    Sigarettes

by Petertraveler Written Mar 31, 2010

The only way to buy cigarettes is from Spain, you can bring back £16,000.00 =8 packs of 200. at about £32.00 for a 200 pack of L&B. Buy them from an official tobacco shop, it has a brown and gold notice above the shop, other shops may not be the official cigarettes.
    Hope this helps you
    Regards Peter

    all: british food

by tanneddarling Written May 26, 2007

What to buy: you can buy most British and other European food here - so don´t worry about packing anything like that in your case.

Bring toiletries with you - especially if you like a particular brand name.

Carrefour and Mercadona are good for own brand products - so forget the little supermarkets on the beach if you need suncream lotion, shampoo etc. Buy it in Mercadona.

What to pay: In Euro or with your bank card. Remember that in Spain it´s not chip and pin they have. You need to show PHOTOGRAPHIC I.D.

This can be your Photo Driving Licence or a passport (something official)

    MARKET: MARKET TIME

    by sparkieplug24 Updated Jun 18, 2006

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The market is Sunday (maybe saturday)and either Tuesdays or Wednesday. The weekend market is when mostly the Spanish go to it so it will be busier. However if you are looking for a real bargain go to the market at the weekend as the market during the week is more expensive as this is the day that the tourist go to market.

What to buy: There are many different souveniers to be bought here including dolls and other toys for children, clothes etc.

Walking by Benidorm' streets you'll find thousands of shops in some commercial streets in the old town, the one in the picture is Avenida Jaime I,close to Poniente Beach. In here you'll find lot of clothes and souvenir shops at a very reasonable price.Right now we are having lot of shops runned for chinese people, and the prices are really low!!!,specially on clothes and souvenirs.

Also just outside of the city centre we got a new Shopping Center,is called "Centro Comercial La Marina".Here a part of lot of nice and a few of them expensive shops, there are also some restaurants and a multicinema,is a good place to spend a full morning or afternoon. Also there are a few cafeterias and fast food restaurants.Take a look to its website for more information.

It is located on the road to Finestrat.

    Caprabo and others: Bodega Ham

    Speciality ham

I always liked Caprabo which is a large supermarket chain. As well as food stuffs they also sell housewares etc and are always at a very reasonable price. I always pick up a selection of Spanish cheeses and speciality meat such as the Bodega or Serrano ham which is basically a cured pigs leg!

Head out of the new town for most of your shopping

by helsbels Updated May 12, 2004

My general advice for shopping in Benidrom is to avoid the new town. All you'll find there are todo shops (everything for 50c or 6euros) and plenty of tacky tourist shops which i think mostly will rip you off. Even food shopping is cheaper outside of the new town.
The old town boast plenty of little streets packed with shops and cafes. Clothes shops, shoes, Jewelery. It's only a twenty minute walk from the new town or about 2euros in a taxi. Alterntitavely there's a shopping centre (Mall) a short bus ride away called 'La Marina'. It's only about 1euro on the bus and about 15/20 minutes. It's not massive but worth a look if you're stuck for anything else to do!

What to pay: Expect to pay alot more if you buy english food products. There are loads of 'english supermarkets' and they make a fortune off tourists who are too scared to go in to a local supermarket and buy local products. Even though the labels are in spanish it's not normally hard to guess what things are. And if you're in self catering you could save a fortune.

    Need Cheap Beach Gear?

    by cwest03 Written Jul 26, 2003

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

If you've arrived in Benidorm and forgotten your swimsuit, thongs, suntan lotion, beach mat, goggles or just about anything that goes with the sand and sea, fret not, you'll find a good, cheap selection in one of the many shops that sell this sort of stuff. As an example of just how in expensive it can be I was able to pick up a pretty good pair of beach sandals for €6. You can also find a host of other beach items as mentioned for prettty reasonable prices as well.

What to pay: Amazingly enough I found that prices were a bit better the closer that I got to the beach. Do some shopping around to find the best prices.

    Bull Fight Poster

What to buy: At the arenas, they usually sell various items. But, one item could be considered cool or corny... I guess it depends on your taste. You can have a Bull fight poster printed with you name as the Bull fighter.

Hey, at least it is different from the plates.. cups.. hats.. and tshirts most tourists buy.
