alicante airport to benidorm for all budgets!

by helsbels Updated Aug 13, 2004

The information people at the airport can tell u which bus stop you need and the times, this is the cheapset way, get a bus in to alicante which is about 90cents then from the bus station (you will get dropped off across the road from here) in to benidorm for a couple of euros. There is also a direct bus availiable now, ask at the airport for times but its 6euros each way with 2 drops in benidorm, one in the old town and one at the bus station on the Europa. It runs about 4 times a day each way. Failing that, ask the tour reps if they will do u a transfer, not all of them do, i think air tours charged me around15euros and i could choose which hotel i wanted to get dropped off at. Or if you're feeling rich, in a hurry or arriving at a time with no buses, taxis charge about 60 euros, some local people also do airport runs for about 40or 50 euros.

This is a picture of one of numerous buses that crossing Benidorm many times by day. They are called "Guaguas" by the locals is the same word that use people in Canary Island to say Bus.
These blue and white color buses, have many routes by the city, unfortunatelly I never use them,(I got my own car) so I don't know very well the numbers and lines. Is better if you have a problem on buses, ask in your reception desk .

Also there is a line that goes to Terra Mitica Park for free.

The carriages were built between 1910 and 1920 and were renovated in 1987. Since that time they are used for this historical train journey. It runs everyday at 9.30am, except on Sundays and Mondays and when it is hired for private parties. Best is to book your ticket in advance. It costs about 18€.

    Looks good enough to eat!

Benidorm is small enough to walk around, but if you want to get away and vist other smaller towns, there are plenty of buses and they are cheap. I believe a fare of 86 cent will get you to most of the surrounding towns and villages.

    Benidorm station

Between Benidorm and Denia the Costa Blanca Expres is running. It is an easy way to discover other places in the region. .To go from Benidorm to Denia takes just a bit more than an hour. Trains run almost every hour.

The fastest and most easy way to go to Benidorm is of course by plane. From the most important cities of Europe direct flights to Alicante are available. From the airport to Benidorm taxis and busses are available.

In less than an hour you go from Benidorm to Alicante and vice versa. Trams are running every 30 minutes and you can see on the electronic info board at every stop when the tram will arrive.

the local buses are great. it´s only one euro per person per journey (70p sterling)

you can also buy a "bono bus" and get 20 journeys for much less money. this is an electronic card that you can "recharge" and normally they feature a scene of benidorm or the surrounding area printed on them - you can collect these.

The Limon Express courtesy of FGV

Benidorm railway staion is the starting point for the 'Limon Express',

I recommend booking in advance or, if you are part of a package holiday, your tour rep. will do this for you if they havn't got a scheduled trip from the hotel anyway.

This is a tour train that runs to Denia and back with balcony ended carriages like in the wild west albeit with a diesel on the front. The train is equiped with a bar on board in the Cafe car.

    Open air Tour of Benidorm

    by sparkieplug24 Written May 8, 2003

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

There is an open air tour bus which travels around Benidorm it takes you to all the places and it is very cheap. It goes to the old town, new town and beach. You can catch this bus at most bus stops but beware that drivers often do not speak very good English and will do very little speaking in English. It can be worth seeing though especially if you have never been to Benidorm before but beware if getting off somewhere other than when you got on that the driver often does not tell you where the bus is you have to ask.

Quite often booking your flights and accomodation online, transfers to and from the airport and hotel are not included. I have come across this for the first time so I have had to find through the interneta bus service. I have written this tip before my journey so I will of course advise what happened!
