 | Calpe Restaurants | Tips 1 - 10 of 11 | | We found this restaurant on our second night in Calpe. The staff and the Chef "Gus" offer a very friendly and attentive service and make you feel very welcome. It has been a very famous Steakhouse in Calpe in 1985. All their food is made of fresh ingredients and this combined with the traditional cooking and unbeatable value for money makes the Boomerang food so special. The Boomerang has been listed in many food guides and has been voted "NUMBER ONE" by an independant consumer taste panel. However, the Boomerang is not only about great cooking, it is also about the atmosphere and lively conversation and friendly staff that makes you want to return to again and again which we did once again before the end of our holiday
We all tried different meals from the menu. The steaks live up to their reputation as being the best on the Costa and you can see why they have been voted No. 1. The Schnitzel was also another enjoyable meal that my son had. On one occasion I had the fish platter with which was delicious. All the chicken, Schnitzels and Steaks include fried potato chips and fresh mixed salad, dressed with the chefs secret and you can also have with a sauce of your choice. A couple of the sauces to mention are the Gaelic Sauce, a traditional sauce of onions, Guinness Beer, wild mushrooms, Tomatoes, whole wedges of garlic, Irish Whiskey Jameson and herbs (recipe dates back to 1780) Provencal Sauce, A rich wine sauce made from red wine, ripe tomatoes, fresh green and red sweet peppers, onions and the finest of provencal herbs. I couldn't resist having a Bailey's Ice Cream dessert on the first visit which I really enjoyed and can highly recommend it. The bill for four of us came to €36 including drinks Theme: SteakhouseComparison: least expensiveAddress: C/La Pinta-Corner, Calpe, AlicantePhone: 96 583 60 34Directions: The Boomerang is situated in the older part of Calpe. My partner and I are travelling along the Costa Blanca and we are currently passing through Calpe and Moraira. We enjoy most types of food and really love local cuisine which we found is in abundance in Calpe, but just sometimes a good old fashioned fish and chips dinner is irresistable. (Sorry I know this is sad). We happen to stumble upon a place called Henry,s situated in the town (nr the fountain). This place serves great traditional dishes and is a warm, pleasant environment and most importantly very clean. You can get your usual assortment of fish, variety of pies and mash, kebabs, savaloys etc. The best part about this is the chips are fresh cut and not the typical frozen fries which seem to be the norm, oh and the portions are really generous. I would also like to mention El Santo in the old town, beautiful building, local cuisine and ambience.
The first visit we had battered cod and fresh chips with mushy peas which was superb, on our second visit we enjoyed the chicken kebabs. These were great dishes and generous portions. The kebabs are huge naan breads with spicy chicken breast, salad, chillis and a selection of mild and hot sauces and a plate filler. When we heard of a good English restaurant, we were intrigued....living in Spain we thought that theres no such thing...with so many other choices of cuisine around. But the Patio as we now know it is a superb meal out and the food top notch. David has been running it as the Chef for 10 years now and has a core of regular clientele as well as the usual tourists that manage to stagger up into the old town of Calpe, away from the cheaper photo menu joints on the seafront. The a la carte menu is varied, not overly cheap but the price reflects the quality of the food. The menu of the day is 19 euros and well worth a look, and changes on a regular basis. Here in Spain they don't really 'do' vegetables, so its always a welcome change when you go to the Patio as they provide a huge portion of veg and potatoes with your main course.
Highly recommended - lamb... usually on the menu but the sauce changes each month, the date and bacon sauce with the chicken is not to be missed if available. Dessert heavan can be found unusually in After Eight Cheesecake - better than it sounds... so wonderful that we commissioned one from them, for our wedding! We were taking a walk around Calpe Rock and just past the harbour we saw a nice restaurant overlooking a beautiful bay in Calpe. The views were breath taking and we saw they done paella so we decided to go in.You can park up near Calpe Rock and then walk past the harbour and there is a street lined with bars and restuarants and this restuarant had the best view as it looked over the beautiful beach. The restuarant was like a giant sun lounge with windows all around so everyone could make the most of the great views. It was very busy but the service was very fast and good.We had bread with garlic butter while waiting for our Valencian paella to be cooked. It was a nice atmosphere again and the tables were spread out well so busy but plenty of room etc.The paella was quite nice but not as nice as El Port.I would give it 8 out of 10.Still very good and worth eating here.Paella was 8 euros a person.Hubby had a desert which was 3 euros and looked delicious and he told me it was too;-) This place had a good menu and prices were very good and choice of food and wine was exellent. The setting was fantastic. You must give this place a try as its well worth going. There was also a bar area in next room and a bar area outside too with views over Calpe Rock. This area at night is full of life and atmosphere with beatiful views and plenty of places to eat and drink. The restaurant had a bar area with a tv and a few slot machines. Also a nice outside bar. I enjoyed going into the local supermarket and buying a selection of meats , pates and sausages etc.I do like to try the local foods and am not frightened of trying anything really.I loved the tasty sausages and pates. They are not really that big here in England and it was nice seeing the vast selection in Spain in the local supermarkets. The sausage i bought was very garlicy and the pate very rich.I also tried the local wines of course ;-).I was going to goto Denia market which is held on Fridays but was ill so did not have the chance. But on my next trip im going to goto the market and buy some food from there rather than from the supermarket Leave a Comment Theme: LocalComparison: least expensive

Gus, Carol and Paul make an evening out for us.... the steaks here are superb and very good value. Best value is the special menu which is 16 euros for 3 courses (no drink inc.) But well worth it. Theres loads of choice for everyone - and some wonderful sauces as well.
If you love desserts then you must try the Tiramisu....I'm a tiramisu freak and its the best ever! Trust me!

Ansbacher Stable As Calpe Rock has beaches each side of it we walked from the harbour side one day and went to the promanede side to see the built up part of Calpe. The promanded side is long with loads of sky rise hotels. The beach right next to Calpe rock is pleasant and we found a small beach bar up a side street just before the seafront. It had about 5 tables and was rustic style, basic but looked clean and pleasant. We ordered a drink each mine being a glass of local wine for 1.30 euros and hubby had a coffee for 1.50 euros. I had burger and chips which cost 4.25 euros and hubby had spag bol which was 4 euros. The service was good and the food was pretty good.It was beach bar style, nothing fancy but very good.Good value fast food.Snack food.I then had a cubre libre( rum and coke) which was 2 euros.I recomend this place for a snack meal and or drinks as it was good value and clean and had friendly service. The loos were clean and looked brand new and we sat outside but it also had an inside with a tv and a few seats. This whole area is alive at night and the choice of bars and eateries is massive. When i went last this December lots of places were shut but i think it was because it was new years day.You can walk along the long beach and pick from a huge range of bars etc for a good night out in Calpe. Along the coast you can eat a big variety of meals.International dishes. If you want to try traditional food and recipies you are better going to smaller restaurants and going inland abit
Think my fav dish is Paella.Valencia is famous for its great paellas. They have a fiesta each year making giant paellas.Paella is a mixture of rice, seafood and garlic, sausages, beans and various herbs and spices. It is cooked a huge pan and bought to your table in it.You normally have to order it for mimimum of 2 people. It costs about ?7 a head. You can get a seafood paella and a meat only paella if you dont like seafood and shellfish.Ive had both and like the meat one best.It had chicken and sausages instead of shellfish. It is very filling and very delicious. Another dish i cannot get enough of is the baked Vegetables .They are the most tastest thing ive ever eaten.Ive tried them at various restuarants but they were the best at El Port in Denia. They are baked in the oven with olive oil, garlic and a dash of salt. They have so much flavour and i could eat this dish every day.Every time its done to perfection. It is a starter but as its a huge dish we order one and share it as a starter .You could order one and eat it as a main meal as its so tasty and filling. It cost 6 euros at El Port Restuarant You can get this dish at places in Calpe too. This place is stunning. We did not eat here but had some drinks. Its just before you get into Calpe along coastroad. You can park outside it but we walked along the coastpath and saw it and needed a break with a drink. You can also get to it from Calpe beach front as you just walk along the path about half a mile to get to it.It has great views along coast to Calpe rock.
We had two drinks and they cost 5 euros.i had a glass of wine(of course) and hubby had a coffee. There was plenty of seating outside with a lower seating area and upstairs a higher area with great views. Also plenty of seating inside.Lots of people were eating and what they had looked pretty good.Next time we go out to Spain we will try a meal here.Staff were friendly and place was clean etc. Leave a Comment Theme: LocalComparison: about averageDirections: About a half mile walk from Calpe seafront along a nice cliff top path which is safe
