Noahs Ark wildlife sanctuary on the CV70 between Guadalest and Benimantel is well worth a visit. It rescues mainly zoo animals or strange pets which have been mal treated and survives on charity. Its quite a weird experience, being the middle of the Spanish countryside. on the side of a hill, listening to classical music and loking at lions,...more

The Pe?on was declared a nature reserve in 1987 and now provides a safe haven for a variety of birds and unusual flora and fauna. From the top of the Rock you'll see a very nice view of the city and...more
This picture, was taken from the top of the Rock,by my VT. friend Boka, from Finland, during his holidays on Benidorm on July 2001!. This is also the perfect place to see the best sunset and sunrises at Costa Blanca, take a look to my travelogue to see a few photos of them!.more
Near the harbour there are a lot of fish restaurants. I must say if you see it, it all looks very nice. I wouldn't recommend eating there. I did two times in recent years and it was awfull. Maybe it was just bad luck, but I will not try it again. While you're eating people are trying to sell you, carpets, binoculars, watches, etc. You can't enjoy...more

A first class restaurant with good views of the beach. On the ground floor they have a Tapas bar, serving breakfast, tapas, snacks, drinks and wonderful homemade cakes and pasties.Jim and Laura took over this restaurant in March last year and have suffered somewhat from the previous owners’ reputation. They changed the name from the West Beach to...more
When we heard of a good English restaurant, we were intrigued....living in Spain we thought that theres no such thing...with so many other choices of cuisine around. But the Patio as we now know it is a superb meal out and the food top notch.David has been running it as the Chef for 10 years now and has a core of regular clientele as well as the...more
Gus, Carol and Paul make an evening out for us.... the steaks here are superb and very good value. Best value is the special menu which is 16 euros for 3 courses (no drink inc.) But well worth it. Theres loads of choice for everyone - and some wonderful sauces as well. If you love desserts then you must try the Tiramisu....I'm a tiramisu freak and...more
My partner and I are travelling along the Costa Blanca and we are currently passing through Calpe and Moraira. We enjoy most types of food and really love local cuisine which we found is in abundance in Calpe, but just sometimes a good old fashioned fish and chips dinner is irresistable. (Sorry I know this is sad). We happen to stumble upon a place...more
We found this restaurant on our second night in Calpe. The staff and the Chef "Gus" offer a very friendly and attentive service and make you feel very welcome. It has been a very famous Steakhouse in Calpe in 1985. All their food is made of fresh ingredients and this combined with the traditional cooking and unbeatable value for money makes the...more
This place is stunning. We did not eat here but had some drinks. Its just before you get into Calpe along coastroad. You can park outside it but we walked along the coastpath and saw it and needed a break with a drink. You can also get to it from Calpe beach front as you just walk along the path about half a mile to get to it.It has great views along...more
Food in Spain is great as most of it is locally produced and fresh. Its healthy as plenty of olive oil and garlic are used in lots of dishes. The choice of shell fish and fish is extensive and caught locally.Chicken and pork and peppers and onions are used lots too.The fruit used is normally grown locally too.So Spainish food is very healthy...more

When i goto Spain i always see people walking around selling watches and cd's etc from fishing tackle boxes. They walk around bars and restaurants at night and try to sell cheap rubbish to people.Fake watches and copied cd's.Just firmly say no to them or dont even look at them or they will be over to your table. You will also get people begging for...more
No injections are required to visit Spain and the water is safe to drink but it tastes abit horrible as lots of chlorine has been added and people drink bottled water as it tastes alot nicer. The main thing to watch out for is sunburn and getting dehydrated in the hot sun.I got sunburnt and so did my hubby when we fell asleep and woke up 2 hours...more

Just behind the Penon the Ifach (the rock) you can go to the nude beach. Its a very small rocky beach. Its not always very easy to get out of the water with all the rocks.
