Morella is one of many towns in Spain that celebrates their festivals with the use of "Gigantes" or Giants.
These large costumes, worn on the shoulders of their 'drivers' are used celebratory during festivals to portray the archetypes of the town.
Feel free to read my Local Custom tip on my Spain page for more details.
These Gigantes were found in the entrance of the town's Municipal Building.
Morella celebrates its local festival only once every six years. It is called hence the sexeny. This festival is celebrated in honour of Our Lady of Vallivena, commemorating the end of a pest epidemy in the XVII century.
This festival has a very long tradition and, after five years, people are really looking forward to it and to celebrating a great party.
