Costa Blanca has lots of hidden coves if you go for a short walk and there is a great cactus garden with huge cactuses and fantstic views out to sea just before you get to Calpe.Calpe rock has a good beach and nature reserve which is away from the hustle of the resort centre. It is much prettier and quieter here and the beach does not get crowded at all.Very pieceful.

Here in beautiful and pieceful Moraira Bay.

Denia has a great climate and it is warm all year round. It is set around mountains and the views are wonderful.Im so glad i decided to buy my house here. The coastline here is very natural and unspoilt and there are loads of places to stop off on the beach on the coast road from Denia to Oliva.

You must drive to a Spanish village up in the hills to see the real Spain.I found Elche a great choice.I also went to Villajoyosa,a small fishing port with narrow streets and the last week of July, they hold a Fiesta. The Fiesta and parade is well worth seeing and it lasts for a week.I enjoyed the El Algar Waterfalls also, which you could swim in,very refreshing on a hot day.

Here is the wonderful cactus garden on the coast road to Calpe.

Denia has a great seafront which has been done very nicely. Its an all year round town with lots of bars, resturants staying open.It has banks, chemists, doctors, vets, supermarkets, dentists, estate agents etc.Take a walk along the seafront and harbour and then relax at a bar.Denia also has a castle on a hill over looking the town. The castle is well worth going to for the great views alone. It also has a great museum inside and stunning gardens to relax in. Quite a hard walk up and well worth the effort. A bar was open when we went to the Castle. Allow yourself around two hours to relax and look around. There are also art sculptures in the lovely gardens. Loos are available and plenty of shade under pine trees and picnic benches.

The Columbretes Islands are one of the natural treasures of the Valencian Community. they are located 35 miles off the coast and the boat trip takes aroun 1.30 h.

They are of volcanic origin and their solitude has never been interrupted but by the occasional lighthouse men and military expeditions.

This isolation has allowed for the preservation of a unique eco-system in the Western Mediterranean. They are classified now as a nature reserve and host rare species of sea birds and fish.

The Columbretes are one of the best spots for diving in Spain, but being a protected area, a permit is required from the environmental authority.

The Serranos Region is an undiscoverd part of the interior of the province of Valence, in the upper course of the river Turia after it enters the Community of Valence. Its capital is the town of Chelva (main picture), but there are many other towns and landscapes to discover in addition to the already mentioned Chulilla and Alpuente.
