Trendy roundabouts

by rachel_sun

Denia has a great seafront which has been done very nicely. Its an all year round town with lots of bars, resturants staying open.It has banks, chemists, doctors, vets, supermarkets, dentists, estate agents etc.Take a walk along the seafront and harbour and then relax at a bar.Denia also has a castle on a hill over looking the town. The castle is well worth going to for the great views alone. It also has a great museum inside and stunning gardens to relax in. Quite a hard walk up and well worth the effort. A bar was open when we went to the Castle. Allow yourself around two hours to relax and look around. There are also art sculptures in the lovely gardens. Loos are available and plenty of shade under pine trees and picnic benches.

Quatredondeta

by DanielF

Quatredondeta is a typical mediterranean village lost in the mountains, yet not far away from the busy coast of the province of Alicante. The area provides a lot of interesting hiking opportunities, the most famous being the trail that leads to the Frares (The Priests), a number of rock formations modelled by the erosion that, according to the popular tradition, are actually petrified priests.

The Serranos Region

by DanielF

The Serranos Region is an undiscoverd part of the interior of the province of Valence, in the upper course of the river Turia after it enters the Community of Valence. Its capital is the town of Chelva (main picture), but there are many other towns and landscapes to discover in addition to the already mentioned Chulilla and Alpuente.

the Columbretes Islands

by DanielF

The Columbretes Islands are one of the natural treasures of the Valencian Community. they are located 35 miles off the coast and the boat trip takes aroun 1.30 h.They are of volcanic origin and their solitude has never been interrupted but by the occasional lighthouse men and military expeditions. This isolation has allowed for the preservation of a unique eco-system in the Western Mediterranean. They are classified now as a nature reserve and host rare species of sea birds and fish. The Columbretes are one of the best spots for diving in Spain, but being a protected area, a permit is required from the environmental authority.

Building has begin

by rachel_sun

Where my place is the building has taken off.I felt abit sad when I visited again as I saw new buildings and cranes.I just hope they keep it nice and do not over due the building and ruin the place.I am glad to say along this coast road there are villas already so they cannot build big buildings all along the coast as the villas break this up.Where my house is there is lots of new buildings going up too.It is still nice at the moment and lets just hope they knew when to stop.Keep things nice and not too built up.Fingers crossed. The beach at El Verger is still very unspoilt and well worth going to to get away from it all.

cranes popping up along coast.
New building work

by rachel_sun

Each time we visit Denia we see new buildings that have gone up.Luckily the beach at El Verger is still unspoilt. We noticed they had built huge pier things out of rock.We walked along them and had a great view along the coast.I believe they were built to stop erosion. This part of the coast is very pebbley and I think in the future they may make it sandy such as other beaches in the area.I quite like the pebbles but I guess sand is nicer and easier to walk on etc.

Big pier things recently been built
Spanish Dog

by rachel_sun

While walking along the Oliva/Denia road we saw this cute dog looking over a balcony sunning itself.I just thought it looked so cute and funny I had to take a photo. The beach along this road is still unspolit and it is worth taking a look.Buildings are starting to spring up so take a look before it's natural state vanishes.Anywhere between els poblets and Oliva.

Take a walk along Calpe seafront

by rachel_sun

I recomend you to just park up somewhere near Calpe Rock and just take a walk around the rock.See both sides.Contrasting scenery .Walk along the nature reserve at the bottom of the rock and see and hear the protected birds flying around and enjoy the gardens that have been planted and enjoy the views along the coastline. The other side of the rock, Calpe promanade is not horrible. Its still pleasant but more built up.It nice taking a walk along the promanade. The beach right next to the rock the other side is the nicest. All in all Calpe is very nice and i always go a few times when im on my hols in the area.It has lovely costal walks and great beaches and bays and plenty to see and do.A wonderful place for families and couples alike.

Penon de Ifach

by rachel_sun

As the Penon de Ifach is so high, 372 metres above sea level it sure stands out.The rock is connected to the land by a small strip of land and there are inlets both sides with beautiful beaches.Calpe is quite a big place and i find this part of Calpe the nicest. The other side of Calpe rock is a seafront with a long promande lined with high rise buildings and hotels and restaurants and bars. The harbour side is just nicer and more pleasant and not so busy. You can eat in one of the few restuarants around this area or just enjoy the beautiful sandy beach just up past the harbour or the rocky beach next to the rock. The beach next to the rock has beautiful deep blue water and palms.
