Its probably a bit late for you but i just found your post by accident today and maybe you need to make the journey still or will need to do it again.
First off when you exit reus airport you will find the bus rank in front of you, usually the closest bus to you will have plana painted on the side. and be labeled as traveling to la pineda - cap salou - salou - cambrils. you want to travel to salou. you can find details of this bus here http://www.busplana.com/airportreus_en.htm
Im not sure on this timetable but the bus company have some kind of arrangement that whenever a ryanair flight lands the bus will be waiting.
5.60 will be the charge and you want to ask them to let you off at parada la feria although if you tell them you want to go to the train station (estacio de renfe salou) they may oblige you in some manner.
The journey takes about 45 mins - 1 hour depending on the number of stops for hotels on the way.
if they cant help you find the train station they will normally let you off at the number 43 (ref# E:4) on this map
follow the path of the light blue line to the train tracks and then turn left you will see the station.
from there you can find a train that goes to benicarlo-peniscola for around 20 euros it can take 2 hours if it is a regional express(much cheaper) or an hour for the faster premium trains.
for a timetable on this service go to
in the journey details (compra de billetes) select ida for a one way ticket
estaciones origen = salou
estaciones destino = benicarlo-peniscola
enter the date of travel in a dd-mm-yy format
and hit buscar
you will get a screen listing all the trains departing that day and how much it will cost you. renfe will also give you an english page should you need further assistance, choose from the idiomas list at the bottom left of the home page.
once you get to benicarlo peniscola is still quite a distance you would need to get a taxi to complete your journey the first time. shouldnt be too much about 10 - 15 minute car ride. should you have to make the journey regularly you could start to learn to walk to benicarlo town square and catch a bus to peniscola.
I was driven there by a friend, and it took about 15-20 minutes to get there from Alcossebre. If Peñiscola is not on your map, look for Benicarló and Torreblanca, and then pay attention to road signs.
This simple map comes from a little 4-page booklet that you can get at the castle's entry.
We always went by car to Spain, we knew the way and i really love to see all the things outside my window. Like in France the sunflowers and the little houses when you come further to the south.
This car wasnt ours, you see the car of my brother overhere. He and his wife came over for 10 days. Just 2 days we all spend some time together. The car was very old, but managed it!
Maybe its possible to come by train...but i dont know if this track is still in use. I know a lot of movies are taken overhere, cause of the surroundings.
A car is the best way to get and go. You can go to a lot of nice places, leave the car and go by foot or bike to where you wanna go and see the most wonderfull places.
Peñíscola is situated in the North of the Valencian Community, close to Catalonia. If you do not have a car, the best way to reach Pañíscola is by bus.
