    Gourmet: Crap booking

    by MatsK5 Written Jul 25, 2012

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Tried to book a table before arrival. Got a late response (from a private Hotmail-address!) that the booking was possible, but that our wish to sit outside could not be met, as they did not serve outside. I found this a bit odd so I asked wether the outside seats pictured on the web site were only for dinkining (thinking maybe we could at least get a drink outside, if that was the case) and got no answer. I forwarded the same email a few days later asking the same thing and got no answer. I sent a third email and a couple of days after that I got the same answer as the first time, although starting with the addition "As I've already told You…" . Eh… ok… Why would I want to visit a place that does not seem to bother wether I come there or not? Why would I want to visit a restaurant that won't answer direct questions? Why would I want to pay for a meal at a place where I am obviuosly considered annoying? Seriosly… get real.

Favorite Dish: None. And there will never be one.

  • Restaurante Chino Gran Mundo, Avda. Libertad 5: Don't even try Gran Mundo in Torrevieja!!

Very bad restaurant, very bad service. First, the Wan-Tun-Soupe was disgusting (water: very strong fish taste?? and inside the nudels: smelled like uri...??) and then the waitress wanted to call the police (because I had to pay for a soupe that I did not eat). Furthermore, both waitress were very angry and they tried to speak with other clients about ous. But even those clients said that the soup was disgusting.

A popular resto in town known to its tasty foods, friendly service and cosy atmosphere. During summer season, they are open everyday.
    Opening hours:
    18.00-23.00

Favorite Dish: These are one of my favorites: King Prawns served with champagne sauce
Lenguado with shrimps sauce served with crispy vegetables and cooked potatoes. My husband loves cordero(lamb). Try their duck plate and salmon too, my inlaws said, they're fine. As usual, don't miss their coupes and sorbet . Cortado and carachillo rounds up the evening if not brandy or apple liqour.

    Restaurant Las Cuevas(entrance)

Specialized for fish and meat dishes. Also paella is not to be missed here (must be ordered in abvance for 2 persons). Take your apperitif at the bar. It is very cozy and the whole interior is very unique and enchanting decorated way back to many decades. Because of limited spaces (remember it's just a cave) reservations is recommended especially during the weekends. They're closed on Wednesdays.By the way , for claustrophobias a reservation at
the terrace is possible. Opening hours: 13:30-16.30 and 20-22:30
    Worth visiting!!

Favorite Dish: Their fish dishes are really good and leche frita as dessert

    Cafe Central: For quickies

by barbskie Updated May 5, 2007

Centrally located cafe restaurant. Close to Plaza Constitucion and to the city center. I used to see my friends here just for a quickie meeting. Not very special but enough to have some lunch and coffee. Tony and his co-waiters will welcome you there. Friendly atmosphere. For football fans, a good place to enjoy televised games.

    Kashmir Restaurant

A newly opened indian restaurant owned and managed by a charming couple Kish and Wahida. Spacious and has a friendly atmosphere. Good menu as what mostly of the indian cuisine and have reasonable prices.
What make it special is , a bottle of wine is free if dining with four people(as what we had enjoyed) that evening. The most interesting also is, they have their own loyalty card.....members get every sixth meal free of charge.
Another good thing is, the owner speaks many languages so there's no problem on how to communicate. He told us, they are English, Dutch, Spanish, German, Hindi and two other more.

Favorite Dish: Curried chicken meat (but in real indian curry!). I like their bread too. It is thinly prepared and really yummy, the Naam bread(thanks Joan).

The one located in the plaza is more expensive and formal while the other is perfect for families looking for a quick snack. La Finca de Eduardos is also equiped with a pool so it is ideal place for childrern. Both restaurants serve all kinds of food with Eduardo's Villamartin focusing more on seafood.

Tapas, green ones, meat and wine

by Heinisuo Written Jul 12, 2003

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

I can't remember the names of most of the restaurants I went, but here are some things you should taste.

Favorite Dish: - Garpazho, cold tomato soup. Might sound weird eating cold soup, but it really is tasty.

    - Vegeatables, salads, etc. Even if you don't enjoy eating for example salads or tomatoes you should try them here. I think they tasted great in Spain, mainly because of their freshness.

    - Spanish omelette a.k.a. potato tortilla. Omelette stuffed with potatoes and onions. It's at its best when served warm. Can be found from tapas restaurants or from markets, but I suggest you try it in restaurant(s).

    - Paella. Traditional and propably best-known Spanish food - rice, spices and usually various seafood items. It was good, but not the biggest gourmet-experience during my holiday.

    - Various (small) food in Tapas restaurants.

    - Wines. Even I have started to enjoy some of the wines...

  • Eldorado: Don't ,miss this but always book ahead.

    by Bill&Bill Updated Sep 25, 2002

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Just a FAB place. Personal attention - simply thebest. Go hungry - as you'll leave full. The meals cooked by stone - only in summer- and by prior order- teriffic.
Prawn cocktails to die for. Always visit first and book ahead - they are very choosy about their clientelle - sounds a put off - but please don't be - not to be missed.

Favorite Dish: Everything. If you order meats - all to order - you will not believe the plateful. Order the accompanying German potatoes - fab.
If you want something special - just order. I had a lobster - pricey - but what a night.
Alfred & Manolo - Great friends to all their customers.
