 | Valencia Restaurants | Tips 11 - 20 of 177 | | The Spanish haven't lost their traditions if it comes to food. A tapasbar that keeps the tradition for a long long time is MOTANA. If you stay in Valencia a couple of days I would for sure do the effort to visit this place. The audience here is a bit more posh than anywhere else but the prices are very ok. It isn't very big and it is well know for it's wines and cava's. Vinos Catalanes , vinos de LaMancha , vinos de Valancia...CAVAS Freixenet , parxet. I did see people come in just to buy wine or vinegar. But we came here to eat. (it is said that famous people did here too). And it was excellent. I heard that the place serves anchovy and mussels that are selected one by one. They did looked very good. You will have a good look around the interior. The old tiles and posters on the wall. Both left and right wall are covered with big tub of wine. We loved it! It is november and in Belgium it would almost be impossible to eat outside. So we were very pleased when we saw 'Baldo'. Baldo is a traditional restaurant serving tapas and meat dishes in a little alley between the 'calle ribera' and the 'passeo russafa' not far from the bull ring. We ordered a few dishes and shared them , the tapas came from behind us , the grilled meat from the other side of the alley drink from the bar. In the evening a loud orchestra of voices comes from the alley. (you can order a complete little pig in the oven - but that was a little too scary for me) Cheap , good quality , simple everyday life.... This is another of Valencia's Tapas institutions, and once again very worthwhile. I went to Casa Montana at lunchtime, this place I went to in the evening on the way to dinner. We only had patatas bravas and beer, but I watched all around me and noted the delights I was missing for a later dinner. It was very busy and we were given a number for seats, but we decided to forgo those to stand at the bar and enjoy the atmosphere which was very lively, fun and lovely. The waiters would squeeze through, shouting all orders to the other staff and providing the edible delights.
Only had the patatas bravas, which I can honestly say was the best I've had- with devilishly tempting alioli. I am sure I will never get enough of that stuff. Apparently it;s famed for it's mussels. In Valencia there are apparently 5 top classic Tapas bars, this is one of them. It is out of the centre of town in the less salubrious area near the beach called La Malvarossa, on a back street and not so easy to stumble upon. Luckily I was taken there by my local host friend. And I would seriously advise anyone visiting Valencia to track this place down. It's not expensive, but it's not the cheapest either, however, the tapas are incredible. We had a great selection- I left it up to my friend, and was a very happy man when I left. The interior is lovely too, with traditional tiles and old barrels. It is apparently popular with local connosieurs too, judging by those in there upon my visit.
Where to begin? My first sardines (as an adult) were gorgeous, as were the well, everything to be frank. I can't remember the name in Spanish, but I loved what was a kind of mash potato with cod and LOTS of garlic- WOW. As you enter in Sagardi you will be surrounded by thousand of trays full of colourful and tasty tapas! Get a plate and fill it with the ones that enjoy your look and you taste. After you finish, the waiter will count the small sticks left on your plate and you will pay a few euro for each of it (1,20 € each). Don't forget to accompany your tapas with a glass of red wine. At the first floor you can find a beatiful restaurant (to book phone: 902.520.522 or mail: reservas@sagardi.com).

This restaurant is actually in the village on the edge of the Albufera. I can't remember the naem of either (it's a trait you'll begin to get used to in my postings; I really should keep a diary or similar). It was very smart and I guess expensive, but it was a special occasion. Anyway, we didn't have Paella, but Arroz Abanda (o?). Wow! It's of the same family as Paella, just none of the bits are left in it, essentially just the rice cooked in the juices of the seafood. The place also did the typical style Paella of course and variations of it. Thye looked great and the waiter even gave me a plate of a neighbouring tables one to try, realising I was not local, just not realising I don't eat rabbit (or other meat). Shame, my hosts enjoyed it for me. Alot they said. Also nice was the view of the canal/lake out the window, you could probably bird watch while eating here, if you can be distracted from your plate.
The Arroz Abando (?) was fantastic and the alioli was also; put them together, and I'm in bliss. The numerous other courses were also superb- grilled vegetables, breads, shellfish, etc, etc. Leave a Comment Theme: LocalPrice: US$41 and up » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: Errr, beyond the village next to the Albufera...Directions: South of town

Cerveceria 100 Montaditos is a chain of restaurants with a few locations across Spain. There are ~80 different small sandwiches to choose from. The price is the same for all... only 1EUR. Simply take one of the order slips from the table and pencil all the ones you want, wait for your name to be called, then enjoy. If you order sandwiches for multiple people, pay attention to what you chose because they will simply put all sandwiches on a plate, with no visible difference. You may wish to put in a separate order if it sounds too difficult to identity.
They are all good, but small. A man could easily eat 4, and if hungry maybe 6. A woman would probably eat 3 and maybe a 4th if more hungry.

The restaurant has been open for just a month and the owner is the former head chef of an English Country Hotel and has 2 rosettes to his name. The restaurant offers a variety of dishes from around the world using locally available produce, the menu is not extensive but none the less is extremely interesting. The presentation of the food is superb, as is the portion control which leaves you satisified but not bloated. The starters range from 3.80 - 6.50 euros, the main courses from 14.90 to 17.80 euros and the postres from 4.00 to 5.10 euros, however you can choose one item from each section of the menu for the combined price of 18 euros which makes it very good value for money. The restaurant has 44 covers and the design is simple but stylish with good use of the colours and contours. On the night we dined there were 43 covers (no table is used more than once a night) but the service was good and the staff very friendly and helpful. This restaurant is new and is yet to be discovered by most of the residents and visitors to Valencia, to miss it would be a shame.
Our table tried most of the dishes on the menu between us and whilst all were of excellent quality we can recommend the following: Primeros - Queso de Brie con salsa de frutas rojas del bosque (this deep fried brie had the perfect conbination of melted brie with the centre being almost solid together with the refreshing sauce) Segundos - Bacalao al homo con crujiente de pistacho, pure de guistances y salsa "Ratatouille" (this cod had a superb pistacho coating, was perfectly cooked and was interestingly served on mushy peas which complimented the fish) Postres - Bizocho de chocalate blanco sobre crema de Baileys (all we can say is that the fudge base was some of the best we have ever tasted and worked wonderfully with the white chocolate and cream) Leave a Comment Theme: Eclectic/InternationalPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: Calle Cabo Jubi, ValenciaPhone: 963292773Directions: The restaurant is situated a few hundred metres south of the North Station and the Bull Ring

Cafe is righ in the middle of the Mercado Central 0 famous Valencia Market. We stopped for some coffee, hot chocolate, and whetever they have to eat. Menu is small, and it is written on the board, but everything is delicious. The people who eat there are the people who work there or shop there, so it is not touristy place.
