by rla You can find all types of cuisine in Valencia, the restaurants that are recommended are 'La Pepica' and 'Estimat', here you can get from seafood to rices. Other restaurants that are recommended are 'Austria 7', 'Casa Ramon' and 'Casa Salvador'. La Pepica, is the restaurant i would recommend you all. La Pepica, is a 100 yr old restaurant, thats just by the beach. It has good food, and above all good hospitality. Famous people like ernest Hemingway have had food there.
The menu i would recommend is first a Valencian salad, and then the Typical Valencian dish Paella, but you can also have other rice dishes, as Valencia is famous for its rice. You can also have fish or seafood. For a drink, you can have a orange juice (its one of the most imporatnat regions in the world for oranges). by Edu_G Horchata (orxata in valencian) is a traditional sweet drink of Valencia (made of "chufas"). It's very popular in the whole Spain, but it's only made in a village in the outskirts of Valencia, Alboraia (it's the only place in Europe where the chufas grow). You can go there and have horchata wiht fartons (bakery pieces to dip into the drink), but there are ice creams and other drinks and bakery as well.
The best is "Horchata con fartons" (in valencian "orxata amb fartons"). This is a tapas place close to the city center. It is not that expensive, but most of the things are tasty. The place is small and old, so you can feel the taste of a spanish "taberna", don't expect a fast food atmosphere! You can have most of the typical tapas: - Patatas bravas (spicy hot potatos) - Calamares (fried squid) - Sepia - Clotxinas (tasty valencian mussel, VERY GOOD) and lots more. It is close to Central Market and Lonja, and 5 min walking from Cathedral and Plaza Ayuntamiento
I think the one I most liked last time was Clotxinas (or clochinas): valencian boiled mussel. Leave a Comment Theme: LocalComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: Plaza del TossalDirections: In Barrio del Carmen. If you come from the Market take the Calle Bolserias and when you reach Plaza del Tossal to the right. If you come from Cathedral take the Carre Caballeros.

by Edu_G In the Village of El Palmar, an island in the La Albufera lake (there are bridges, so you can reach by car). You can reach there by car or bus and the whole village is full of restaurants (the place with more restaurant per person in Spain), all the them very good. Is the tradicional place where the people of the city of Valencia go for traditional food. Besides you can have nice visit to Albufera (sweet water lake next to the sea) that is a National Park, and has one of the most beautiful sunsets in the world (full of pink, red, orange colors reflecting in the water).
- Paella - All-i-pebre (fish with garlic and pepper and potatos) - Tapas Leave a Comment Theme: LocalComparison: about averageAddress: Village El Palmar, South of ValenciaDirections: Take the road of El Saler, in the south of Valencia. Follow this road until you reach the Albufera lake, and wait for the detour (on the right side of the road) for taking the bridges to the island.

We came here as the guests of VT member Mahesh and his wife Neelam. Mahesh is obviously known here and we were made to feel very welcome indeed. We left the choosing of the food to Mahesh and were certainly not disappointed with the food, the restaurant or the wine chosen by Mahesh himself. The restaurant when we arrived was very busy but we were lucky enough to secure the last table. Although very busy the waiters were extremely efficient and speedy. Not a tourist in sight either! The tapas were excellent and freshly made. I would certainly come here again!! (Mahesh, please be my guest next time!)
The tapas consisited of Ensaladilla, Patatas bravas, Sepia, Gambas, Serano ham and more! Leave a Comment Theme: LocalAddress: Santos Justo y PastorDirections: Near the city centre.

Fideua by Birsen Fideua is a seafood pasta cooked for 2 or more people and they bring it in a big pan. The restaurant was 15 min walk from Estacion de Norte (main train station) This place is very popular by locals. When we arrived to the restaurant it was full, they said maybe 1 hour for a table to wait. It was around 3 pm Saturday. But downstairs the tables were available, it is more casual but you eat the same food. We ordered for a starter a fried fish and for main dish Fideua for 2 and it was plenty of food. It cost 22 € Leave a Comment Theme: SeafoodPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: G.V.
