The Mercado Central is home to a large daily food market. Built in 1928, it is a huge glass and metal structure filled with Valencians buying fresh local produce. The best time to visit the market is on weekday mornings. You will be treated to colourful displays of fruits & vegetables, including lots of oranges! There are also numerous deli type stands selling delicious meats, such as Iberian Ham, and all sorts of cheeses.
If you are after fish or seafood, you can also find it here, along with all type of poultry. And of course there are many cuts of meat on offer as well - check out the pig heads in my photo?eeeuuw!! There are also places to buy a coffee/drink or a hot meal if you become ravenous after seeing all of the delicious raw ingredients. I would highly recommend a visit to the market. It is a great way to get a taste for the Valencian way of life. Leave a Comment

It was like an angel guided me to this shop. :-) The place looks very stylish and the smells are intence. It all looked fab...
Everything here has to do with cacao. Most stuff is for eating , but you can also find candles in a cacaonut , insence sticks ... At this moment I am eating the 'chocolate negro' 71% cacao from Ecuador and it is excellent chocolate. The boxes witht the special flavoured chocolates are expensive but taste simply devine. What can I say. You can choose a box or have it filled with the tastes you like. There is also place for a drink in the back with a nice vieuw on the garde, A must if you like chocolates. It's a pedestrian street in the center of Valencia, next to Calle Colon (subway stop - Colon). There are lots of shoe stores on this street and of course Zara, Mango and El Corte Ingles.
If you are lucky to catch the sales (July, January) you can get great bargains. In shops like Zara and Mango you can even get 80% off. The only thing you have to worry about is putting all you bought in your suitcase. Not as easy as it seems ;-) Theme: Other

It's close to Colon street and it's also an entrance to El Corte Ingles. And if you get hungry while shopping you can sit in one of few restaurants in Mercado Colon, it's very nice and gives you shadow - quite needed by many people during summer in Valencia. Theme: Other
