Villajoyosa Things to Do

another pic to show that when i said it was a calm and off croweded beach it was true. pidgeons came across, and very close to us and started eating all my son's crackers. easy to guess that they are acostumed to people being around. almost a pet.

being at costa blanca, obviously those litle places side by side with Benidorm, got a beach. and i garantee that instead of a crowdy beach, yu'll have a charming one, with much less people and with the golden sand and worm water available on the other side. just a 10 minutes drive and yu'll reache villajoyosa playa.

This statue was made in 1915 by Pedro Estany Capella. Its similar to the one that is standing in Madrid. Dr Esquerdo was born in Villajoyosa in 1842 and introduced modern psychiatry into Spain. He opened sanatoriums in Madrid, Carabanchel and at Paradise beach in Villajoyosa.

The old center of Villajoyosa is magnificent, especially if you like bright colors. The houses are painted in a variety of bright lively colors. The houses on the picture are called the hanging houses, because it looks as if they climbed upon the wall

This bridge was built in 1859 by J.Gonzales. It connects the old and the new town. From this bridge you have a magnificent view on the hanging houses that were build between the 17th and 19th century.

The name already says it this beach is located in the center of Villajoyosa. The beach has a lenght of 1190meters and has nice whithe sand.

This is one of the 33 rescue towers that were built at the coastline between 1985 and 1986. They were designed by Rafael Perez Jiminez.
