    2 PIN ELECTRICAL PLUG

by MaheshSamtani Written Apr 5, 2008

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Miscellaneous: If you happen to carry any electrical stuff like hair dryers or just a simple charger for your mobile telephone - you will have to take into account that the electrical systems admit only the 2 pin round plug as shown in the picture. If you are coming in from Britain you might want to buy an adapter to be able to use your stuff in Spain. It may be a little difficult to get it in any normal electrical store. If you happen to have a El Corte Ingles department store near you - they sell adapters for different systems.
The Spanish system is compatible with most European plug sockets – except mainly for the British 3 pin plug - so get that adapter.

Packing for a Weekend in November

by suvanki Updated Jan 16, 2008

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Luggage and bags: Travel light - If You're planning travelling from the airport to the city by Metro, it can be a long walk to Terminal 2 or 4, where the metro stations are - plus there might be stairs to negotiate if the escalators are out of order.
For day time- a secure bag to carry the stuff You need

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: There's plenty to see, and Madrid is easy to get around on foot, if You have comfy shoes. The weekend I was there, it was sunny, but quite cold, especially once the sun had gone. I wore a wool jacket and thin jumper with t shirt underneath. I find layers best if You're walking around outside, but then popping into shops, bars, museums etc.

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Plenty of pharmacies here, but bring any essential medicines

Photo Equipment: Plenty of photography shops here. It is a photographers paradise

Miscellaneous: a torch for when the lights go out, bubble wrap for protecting bottles of wine, pottery etc.

    by ger4444 Written Jun 25, 2007

Miscellaneous: As i was in spain in 1996, i took my guitar with me. such good idea. always a good medium to make new friends. sitting in the parque Retiro and singing it was entertainment for the passing tourists and madrilenians. i even earned a couple of pesetas, as it was called these days. Since spain is the country of the guitar everyone will love it.

    EXTRA PAIR OF GLOVES ..

by parsix Written Jan 8, 2004

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: I lost count of how many times we lost these f*&$ gloves. The funiest part is that we always found them.
But to be in the safe side I will recommend taking an extra pair, just in case you are not as lucky as my friend.

Miscellaneous: Take a free copy of the brochure "en Madrid - What`s on" which is monthly published by the Madrid Tourist Board. It includes plenty of useful information about what to do, what to see and where to go at day and night. The brochure is available at the Tourist Information Offices.
