As mentioned on my main site...el Botin - the oldest restaurant in the world, located outside of the main Plaza. There are tons of other tapas places I enjoyed, but I never wrote down the names. Museo del Jamon is always a place to visit, if you love ham, you've gotta go!!
Favorite Dish: Whenever possible, order the menu del dia! It usually comes with two courses, wine (vino) and dessert (postre) for a very reasonable price.
The 'Botin', of course. The most antique restaurant in the world.
The 'Café Oriente'. The 'Museo del Jamón'.Madrid has a lot of good and interesting restaurants
The Botin is located near the Plaza Mayor, and every night the 'trovadores' show singing lovely songs.
The Museo del Jamón is located at the Calle Mayor, 7.
The Café Oriente is in front of the Palácio real.
Favorite Dish: In the 'Botin' the 'cuchinillo assado'.
No café Oriente o cocido . No Museo del Jamón. a paella.
Nice decoration, a lot of tourists, but the food is just average.
Favorite Dish: Basically roast meat and "Cocido" are good options.

Favorite Dish: white asparagus with the souse;specialties re roast suckling pig, squid rings...
