it's a chain of restaurants, with extremely good food - sandviches, pizza, lasagne, quesadilla, etc
the wine wasn't so good, and u should skip the tiramisu and the N.Y cheesecake, that was forgetable, but otherwise everything was great! :) i wish i had more space to eat... :))
Favorite Dish: quesadilla - great with guacamole
sandviches - all was great :)

The Cafe la Traviata is an upmarket restaurant on the Plaza de Oriente. Tastefully decorated in warm timbers and elegant lamps with an old world feel. They serve a classical Italian-Spanish cuisine which includes dishes such as Tagliatelle al Salmone, Lamb chops with green peppers and pastas. The wine list features the best choices from around Spain.

It was about ten in the evening and we were tired and hungry and close to our hotel there was a Ginos restaurant. Ginos is an Italian Restaurant member of Grupo Vips. They have a selection of salads, pastas, pizzas and delicious desserts. Tiramissu and cheese cake are simply delicious. The service is very good and staff very kind. There are many Ginos restaurants in Madrid normally close to a Vip restaurant.

Spain offers a gorgeous culinary experience for tourists and locals alike, but once in a while, we all feel the need to eat something generic and risk-free... enter Vips restaurants. The varied menu at these casual eateries includes everything from spring rolls to cheeseburgers, salads, pastas, and sandwiches, so you'll surely find something appealing enough. Everything is prepared simply, so you're better off ordering on the safe side (i.e. a sandwich or salad) instead of choosing a fish or meat dish, which aren't that great. One of the most peculiar things about Vips is that if you walk in during the early evening, you'll notice that more than half of the clientele is having tortitas (pancakes), which are actually pretty good and apparently not only for breakfast. All in all, Vips is safe comfort food in this land of strong flavors.
Favorite Dish: Pepito de filete. This steak sandwich is big and satisfying, made with juicy meat and country bread, served with fries on the side. Perfect if you happen to be really hungry during the mid-afternoon lull, when lots of restaurants are closed in town.

This American style cafeteria-diner offers delicious dining options, including some excellent breakfast choices. This is a restaurants chain. They sell bargain books in the front part of the restaurant. If you feel like to eat something quick and easy to oder this is a good alternative. They have nice salads, enchiladas and pasta. The price is average.

Favorite Dish: Although I was a student in Madrid and didn´t have so much money to spend, sometimes I went to VIPs.
I couldn´t resist their brownie. If you try it you will see that it is not just the normal dosis of chocolate that a girl can need but a mistical experience! :O)

Fast-food in Spain!
We went because that's another restaurant that you find around every street and I'll admit it was nice to get a little American food into our slighty destabilized bodies!
We only went once though, because after all, we were there to taste typical Spanish food...!

Vips restaurants are all over Madrid. They serve very good food and their portions are very reasonable. They offer a daily meny according to the day of the week. My mum and my brother had the menu of the day which was good and very filling, while i had salmon filled club sandwiches with chips which was delicious.

VIPs restaurants: junk food in Spain. If you're into hamburgers and fries, then this is your place to eat. It's not as fast as a MacDonald's (come on, we're in Spain!), but it's a little more luxurious. But then again, you're in Spain, where the food is absolutely amazing, so why eat junk food?
Favorite Dish: The cheeseburger is quite good...
