TGIF Madrid: Part of VIPS and TGIF

by gwened Written Jan 5, 2014

when abroad once feels the need once in a while to back to places that one have gone while living in another country; so this is the case with TGIF or thanks God is Friday;an American chain owned franchise in Spain by Grupo VIPS (of the fame cafeterias).

The TGIF by the Bernabeu stadium of the Real Madrid is a natural for me as I am a fan and lifelong member of the team. So whenever there and yearns to a taste of Americana, TGIF is it.

The resto is typically decorated as they are in USA, art nouveau style It is open Mondays to Thursdays from 13h to 00h30 , Fridays and Saturdays from 13h to 01h30 , and Sundays and Holidays from 13h to 00h30

you have easy parking underground , great metro connection as well as bus, and on a grand avenue paseo de la castellana to do your walks.
For info it gets good ratings in TA ::)

Favorite Dish: i go here for the steaks especially the jack daniels brandy braised dish and some beers the old steakhouse beef and fries and beer type, love it

    the feast

it's a chain of restaurants, with extremely good food - sandviches, pizza, lasagne, quesadilla, etc

the wine wasn't so good, and u should skip the tiramisu and the N.Y cheesecake, that was forgetable, but otherwise everything was great! :) i wish i had more space to eat... :))

Favorite Dish: quesadilla - great with guacamole
sandviches - all was great :)

They serve a classical Italian-Spanish cuisine which includes dishes such as Tagliatelle al Salmone, Lamb chops with green peppers and pastas. The wine list features the best choices from around Spain.

    ginos

It was about ten in the evening and we were tired and hungry and close to our hotel there was a Ginos restaurant. Ginos is an Italian Restaurant member of Grupo Vips. They have a selection of salads, pastas, pizzas and delicious desserts. Tiramissu and cheese cake are simply delicious. The service is very good and staff very kind. There are many Ginos restaurants in Madrid normally close to a Vip restaurant.

Vips restaurants: If you're tired of eating like a tourist...

    by cristinaap3 Written Apr 22, 2007

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Spain offers a gorgeous culinary experience for tourists and locals alike, but once in a while, we all feel the need to eat something generic and risk-free... enter Vips restaurants. The varied menu at these casual eateries includes everything from spring rolls to cheeseburgers, salads, pastas, and sandwiches, so you'll surely find something appealing enough. Everything is prepared simply, so you're better off ordering on the safe side (i.e. a sandwich or salad) instead of choosing a fish or meat dish, which aren't that great. One of the most peculiar things about Vips is that if you walk in during the early evening, you'll notice that more than half of the clientele is having tortitas (pancakes), which are actually pretty good and apparently not only for breakfast. All in all, Vips is safe comfort food in this land of strong flavors.

Favorite Dish: Pepito de filete. This steak sandwich is big and satisfying, made with juicy meat and country bread, served with fries on the side. Perfect if you happen to be really hungry during the mid-afternoon lull, when lots of restaurants are closed in town.

Vips: Shop Bargain books and eat...

by Birsen Updated Dec 1, 2006

This American style cafeteria-diner offers delicious dining options, including some excellent breakfast choices. This is a restaurants chain. They sell bargain books in the front part of the restaurant. If you feel like to eat something quick and easy to oder this is a good alternative. They have nice salads, enchiladas and pasta. The price is average.

  • Vips restaurants: Brownie. Order the dessert first!

Favorite Dish: Although I was a student in Madrid and didn´t have so much money to spend, sometimes I went to VIPs.
I couldn´t resist their brownie. If you try it you will see that it is not just the normal dosis of chocolate that a girl can need but a mistical experience! :O)

    Fast-food in Spain!

We went because that's another restaurant that you find around every street and I'll admit it was nice to get a little American food into our slighty destabilized bodies!

We only went once though, because after all, we were there to taste typical Spanish food...!

Vips restaurants are all over Madrid. They serve very good food and their portions are very reasonable. They offer a daily meny according to the day of the week. My mum and my brother had the menu of the day which was good and very filling, while i had salmon filled club sandwiches with chips which was delicious.

Vips restaurants: Junk food in Spain

by IIGUANA Written Mar 9, 2005

VIPs restaurants: junk food in Spain. If you're into hamburgers and fries, then this is your place to eat. It's not as fast as a MacDonald's (come on, we're in Spain!), but it's a little more luxurious. But then again, you're in Spain, where the food is absolutely amazing, so why eat junk food?

Favorite Dish: The cheeseburger is quite good...

In Mexico we have Vips... But there are sooo different from the Spain ones... Vips in Spain it's really good, and you can have really good food for a good price... But dont buy at the store... It is kind if overpriced.

    -------------------------------

En Mexico tambien tenemos Vips, pero son muy diferentes a los de Espan~a... En Espan~a los Vips son muy buenos, puedes comer muy sabroso y a buen precio... Pero no compres en la tienda, los precios son altos...

Vips restaurants: Best Sangria I had in Madrid

by tyerks Written Oct 19, 2003

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite Dish: Vips isn't all Spanish food really, it's kind of like a fancy Perkins, is the impression I got, but they had wonderful wonderful Sangria! It was the first time I ever tried it, and it was so good. I think they put the soda in it (which in my opinion makes Sangria better) After that, I compared all the sangria I had (which was a lot in Spain) to that Sangria, and most of it didn't compare. By far, the best sangria I had in Madrid.

Fast food with a Spanish touch. Try some ham and chicken croquetas for starters, then have some pasta or maybe something from their grill.

Everytime we are running out of time we just drop at this restos. Take away foods are fine too and other items are also available in the VIPS shops. They have many branches around the city.
