    Cafe Gijon

Tertulias (informal chats and discussions held on a regular basis) were very important in Madrid from the beginning of the 20th century until the Spanish Civil War. Cafe Gijon remains from this era: The decor has hardly changed in the last 50 years, and it's still frequented by writers, journalists and theater types. The outdoor terrace is very popular and a great place for coffee, dessert and people watching.

That was our place for our VT meeting !

See how nice are the tables in the reflection !

    Old world charm

This old world cafe was the haunt of some of Madrid's literary and artistic figures. Nowadays it is a quiet, refined, place, olde worlde but charming, and a good place for a quiet drink or a good ice cream as one strolls down Recoletos
